The day was finally here when Trax's parents along with the Wolf Council were going to be here and I could tell how nervous and practically TERRIFIED that Cauldon was feeling. He confessed the other night that he hates the 'unknown' most of the time because things haven't always turned out so good in the end. Aside of course, from meeting me and Trax as well as Luther and the rest of his friends.
It seemed as though every minute of the countdown seemed as though it took much longer as we all hung around in the living room waiting for all their arrivals.
Then we saw a limousine pull up in front of the house and as we looked out the window before answering the door, we first saw Trax's parents get out, then we noticed the Head Elder and the four other Elders came out and we all felt uneasy at that moment because we were not warned or prepared for the Elders' arrivals. Then right before we headed towards the front door to greet them all, we noticed the Moon Goddess stepped out of the limo.
Honestly, that's when my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach and I started becoming more nervous than I think for everyone. There would only be two reasons as to why she would be here with them and for one, it could be that she wants to inform us of things she has seen and possibly help us take down Talberton and them or it also could be the fact that she is going to tell Cauldon and I that we can not be together because he has a mate already waiting for him.
The Elders all were older gentlemen and one woman who all happened to be a couple hundred years old but looked like they were maybe close to their sixties and then of course, the Moon Goddess was flawless in the way she walked and what she looked like.
Cauldon I could feel was becoming more intense and unnerving that I squeezed his hand a little bit to remind him that I am alright and that no matter what, things are going to be okay in the end. We then both looked at one another and smiled.
Next, Trax opened the door and of course, at first greeted his parents as soon as they stepped inside then the rest of them followed behind and we all greeted each other.
"I'm sorry you've all had to come so far to see me. I would have gladly met up with all of you but....." Cauldon began to say but was interrupted by the head Elder who I've heard will only travel far from the Council hall to here if it was about something important, held up his hand.
"Please. We did not have much of a choice. There is a lot we need to go over and discuss and have very little time." He explains.
"Of course." Cauldon nodded.
"Let's go and sit down in the office. We have a big enough table for us all to sit at." Trax's mom suggested.
They did have a huge, long, rectangular table that had been wooden carved by hand and passed down from generation to generation on Trax's mom's side. That's where they always have had their meetings at, according to what I remember whenever I was staying over here with them when I was younger.
Once inside and everyone was seated, the 'meeting/judgement' started.
"Cauldon...." The head Elder began. "I first off, would like to assure you that we did not come to judge you on ever leaving. The Moon Goddess in fact, has recently explained everything to us and we do understand." He states.
I could tell how shocked and surprised Cauldon was to hear that but also how relieved it made him feel as well.
"Really?" Cauldon asked sounding confused. "But my father told me recently that you were coming to do just that?!"
The head elder and everyone else were looking at each other in bewilderment now themselves.
"When did your father see you?" Trax's father asked Cauldon.
We looked at Trax's dad while Cauldon started to answer him.
"A few days ago. But didn't you know that? He had ran into you both beforehand and that's how he knew where to find me." Cauldon finishes.
I almost forgot about that part from the other day. Oh no, he wasn't lying to Cauldon was he?
"I haven't seen your father nor has she, for almost a year now." Trax's dad finishes.
"Cauldon, your father and step-brother are both the reasons we are here. You see, it wasn't until just a few months ago that we had learned about the little 'business/farm' Talberton was running and we've been trying to ever since, find enough evidence to take him down." The Head Elder began.
"But can't she see?" I started asking while looking at the Moon Goddess-not trying to call her out or offend her in anyway of course.
"I'm afraid he's found a way to block me." The Moon Goddess replies with a look of shame, embarrassment and some guilt.
"Hey, it's okay. I..." I started trying to apologize while reaching one of my hands over towards her to comfort her and assure her I meant nothing by it.
She didn't shake my hand but instead smiled as she looked up at me and then shook her head before assuring me it was alright and she knew I didn't mean it in a bad way.
"Anyways, your father has helped Talberton in that HORRIBLE business and in fact, your father had handed over that business to Talberton." He states.
"Wait, are you telling me my father has been selling people and running the farm for a while before Talberton?" Cauldon asked in disgust.
"Yes." The head elder muttered.
"Oh my god." Cauldon says under his breath. "I think I'm going to be sick."
"Well, before you do, we need to ask you for a favor and in return, you get what has always been rightfully yours-your birthright, if you will." The Head Elder says.
"And what is that?" Cauldon asked him.
"We need you to help take both Talberton and your father down. Put them away for all eternity." He says.
Cauldon begins to next think for a moment before asking him....
"And what is it exactly that I get in return that was my so called birthright?" He asks curiously while leaning back in his chair with his arms crossed over his chest even though we all knew deep down inside exactly what he meant.
"To be the next Alpha King, of course." The head elder said with a smile.
To be continued.....
