I was very pleased to see my mom and dad get along with Ryan so well. He was either with one of the two or Eleanor had him doing things for her. I could see how she was acting with him and I was waiting for her to throw a fit when he wasn't able to help her with something, or Mommy had to do it. She was taking well to Ryan and he seemed to be enjoying her clinging to him. I just hoped that what I had to reveal to him today didn't have him seeing me in a different light.
Around noon I left Eleanor with Ryan for a couple of minutes while I showered and got dressed, opting for denim shorts, a dark blue shirt, and a pair of flip-flops. Deciding that I didn't need to do much else with myself, I walked out of the bathroom to come faced with Ryan and Eleanor sitting on the bed, his phone in hand. I could hear the familiar voices and words coming from the device.
"Are you two watching the Roval win again?" I asked, knowing full well that this was at least the second time I'd caught them watching it in the last week.
"Maybe. El wanted to watch it again. She loves seeing it almost as much as I do." Ryan smiled, letting Eleanor hold the phone, his attention turning towards me. "You look good, babe." He said, giving me a sly look over. Smiling, I gave myself a look over, seeing what he was looking at.
"Why thank you. I figured I'd take you and Miss El out for some lunch before we go over to the cemetery. Then maybe grab some ice cream?" My demeanor changed as I began fiddling with my fingers as I spoke, knowing that this was probably a little weird for him to be experiencing. But there were a few things I had to come clean about, and this was the best way to start it out.
"Sounds great. You wanna drive?" He asks asked, standing up to get his keys out of his pocket. He seemed to be fine with everything that I said. Eleanor had noticed his actions, thinking that he was leaving as she forgot about the video and rushed to his side. She didn't hear our conversation.
"Yeah, that way I don't have to give you so many directions." He placed his keys in my hand, having his left hand pulled by Eleanor. She kept asking if she could go with him. "Did you not listen to your momma?" Ryan asked, grabbing her up in his arms. She shook her head, curls bouncing as she did so. I loved watching them interact together, it was always amazing to see.
"We're gonna go get something to eat and maybe if it's okay with momma here, we'll get an ice cream cone afterward?" He said, putting the thought in her head, and the decision on me. Watching the smile light up on her face was something. "Please, momma! Can we get ice cream?"
I could only laugh at the two. They were two peas in a pod lately and it made my heart happy to see Ryan get along so well with her. He honestly treated her just as well as he treats me, and I couldn't ask for anything more.
"Of course, baby."
I tried my hardest to not fret while we were eating our food and it hadn't tipped off Ryan but I knew that as we pulled into the cemetery entrance that I had to come clean soon. To me, it wasn't bad but I feel like it could be something that Ryan could see me in a different light for, and I hated that.
To my surprise, Eleanor had eaten her ice cream and fallen asleep as we were pulling into the destination of our half-hour trip to the cemetery. As the stones full of flowers passed I could already see where Ashton's headstone was. It was forever a spot I could pick out easily. The little one right beside it had my heart racing even more
