Chanyeol arrived home after dropping off Baekhyun and proceeded to his son's bedroom. Gently, he opened the door to find that Jun had already kicked off his duvet. Chanyeol smiled warmly, shook his head, and carefully covered his son with the duvet. The toddler let out a soft whine as his father gently kissed his forehead for the third time that evening.

After taking care of his son, Chanyeol went to check on his younger friend before heading to his own bedroom. Once there, he changed out of his hoodies and pants, opting for more comfortable pajamas before getting into bed.

Moments after getting into bed, his phone alerted him with a message. Stretching to reach for his phone, he couldn't help but smile when he saw the message's content and the sender's name.

"Thank you for today, Sir.
I hope you got home safely?
~Baekhyun~
~9:30 pm~"

Chanyeol had trouble shaking off thoughts of Baekhyun as he drove back home that night. He had noticed Baekhyun lived in a small apartment, which left him wondering whether the younger lived alone or with family.

Concern for Baekhyun's well-being lingered on Chanyeol's mind. He had planned to call Baekhyun once he'd settled for the night, but the message came first, so Chanyeol replied without hesitation.

Even after replying to Baekhyun, Chanyeol couldn't shake the desire to check on the younger's well-being further. However, he decided against it, considering that Baekhyun was still getting to know him. He didn't want to risk overwhelming or creeping him out. Instead, Chanyeol hoped for the opportunity to build a comfortable friendship where they could spend time getting to know each other better.

As Baekhyun lay under his duvet after taking a shower, he found himself unable to stop thinking about his boss. He was perplexed by the persistent blush on his face during their ride home, along with the thundering beats of his heart when Chanyeol had helped him with the seatbelt in the car.

Baekhyun struggled to comprehend why Chanyeol had this effect on him, making him feel somewhat helpless and vulnerable. He even confessed that if his boss had leaned in for a kiss when they arrived at his small apartment, he might not have had the willpower to resist the man.

The proximity between them had been intoxicating, and Chanyeol's captivating scent left Baekhyun almost spellbound. He felt embarrassed by the way Chanyeol's gaze lingered on him when he said goodnight, even though the darkness likely concealed his blushing face. Or did it?

At a point, Baekhyun contemplated whether to send a message or simply go to sleep. He knew it might seem hasty, but he wanted to express his gratitude. So he picked up his phone and, without overthinking, composed a brief message thanking Chanyeol and inquiring about his safe arrival home.

As soon as the message was sent, Baekhyun began to regret it, questioning his choice. He mentally chastised himself, fearing he might be seen as a nuisance or, worse, as someone with romantic interest in his wealthy boss. Baekhyun wished he could take back the message, or somehow erase it from Chanyeol's phone entirely.

Defeated by his own self-doubt, Baekhyun shifted in his bed, only to find a light weight joining him. When he looked, he couldn't help but smile at Mongie, who had hopped onto his bed, her tiny paws disappearing and reemerging from the worn-out bedding.
