„MY WATER BROKE" i heard anna screaming next to me
I immediately got up and threw my bed sheets to the ground. Annas hands were on her belly.
„Everything is going to be okay bub!" i tried to calm her down a little bit while i got dressed
I never got dressed that fast. I helped her getting out of the bed and brought her to the car. I got into the car and started to drive. My hand was on her belly. I can't believe this is going to happen right now. Anna was heavy breathing and i could tell she was in a lot of pain. We arrived at the nearest hospital and paramedics already rushed out to get anna. Anna lie on a hospital bed and we were pushing her through the hall. I held her hand the whole time. We got to the delivery room and a midwife was already waiting for us. The birth pangs slowly started to come up and annas chest was moving up and down. I held her hand and she pressed it together all the time. I was so nervous. It felt like hours sitting next to her and watching her struggle. But i would never leave her side. The midwife told anna some calming words and told her that everything is going to be just fine. Hours went by and we were here for 3 hours now. Anna did well all the time but i think the pain she felt that moment was undescribable.
„This is your fault! I wouldn't feel the pain if we didn't got pregnant!" anna screamed at me
The midwife told me that it's normal that she screams at me. It's a way she can get away from the pain for a short time.
„You're doing great bub." i told anna all the time
The midwife told anna to push because the baby's almost out. It felt like the longest 5 minutes ever. Anna pushed herself down the bed and grabbed my hand. She breathed in and out very loud until.. we heard a little crying. I looked at the midwife and she held up our little baby. It was crying - but that was a good sign. Tears streaming down my face and i couldn't believe my luck. The baby lie down on annas chest and anna started to cry too. I got closer to them and gave anna a kiss on her forehead. My eyes were focused on the little baby. Anna looked at me and kissed me
„We did this." she said and smiled while crying
I nodded and caressed the baby's little cheek. It smiled at me. The midwife told us she's going to clean the baby and put on some clothes. She took the baby and went to a room next to us. The room already felt empty without the baby. Anna and me just smiled at eachother. I couldn't believe this was true. We had a little baby.. i told anna i'll be there in a few seconds. I got up and went to the room next to us. The midwife gave me the baby and i held it in my arms. It was so small. Tears streamed down my cheeks again and i gave it a little kiss on its forehead. I carefully held it against my chest and slowly went back to anna. When she saw me and the baby she held her hands in front of her mouth.
„This is the cutest thing i'ver ever saw" she said and i put the baby carefully down to her
I got into the bed next to anna and just spent time with my little family. Anna was brought into a children's ward. i couldn't picture leaving her side - even if i hated her. This girl was truly the love of my life and when i held our baby in my arms i held the whole world in my hands. I looked down the baby in my arm and looked at anna that was already smiling at me.
There it was - my little Baby McDaniel.
