Joy almost dropped the plate she was clearing with leftovers when Wendy, upon remembering something, slammed the palm of her hand on top of the table, creating a loud sound making the people in the room jolt in surprise and look at her.
"Sorry about that." Wendy looked apologetically at the two men in the room before looking at her. "I almost forgot... Irene said to pack our things, we're leaving this afternoon!" Wendy gave her a knowing look while putting emphasis on Irene's name.
"Oh right. She's strict when it comes to time and meet ups." Joy who continued clearing the table stopped abruptly then looked at her friend, wide-eyed, her eyes brightening and twinkling with excitement. "You're also joining us?" Please say yes... she chanted in her head while she crossed her fingers.
"Well... I don't know. I'm not sure... I guess?" She smiled widely, her eyes matching Joy's excitement.
Eunkwang faked a cough then cleared his throat interrupting the girls' conversation. "I was wondering if you're interested in advertising through your vlogs?" he looked at Wendy's direction. Her friend's eyes sparkled. "I'd love to hear more about it." She followed him out of the kitchen towards the living room leaving Sungjae alone with her.
Now, this is awkward. An image of him this morning flashed in her head yet again, this time in slow motion as if her mind was teasing her. Water dripped from his wet hair then traveled down to his porcelain and well toned body before being absorbed by the towel wrapped around his hips. Now lady, let's ask the web on how you can turn into that lucky tiny drop of water traveling down his body her mind told her. She gulped and shook her head, her own thoughts making her blush. Joy, for goodness sake, it's still early in the morning. Get rid of your perverted thoughts please.
"Are you okay?" Sungjae asked her while putting down plates and silverwares in the sink.
She cleared her thoughts before answering, "I'm fine." She smiled at him reassuringly before opening the water faucet to wash the dishes. "Let me do this at least," she told him immediately when he looked like he was about to stop her.
"Okay but wear this first to keep your clothes clean and dry." He gently pulled her to face him and placed the strap of the apron around her neck before tying the ribbon-like strip of cloth in her waistband. She held her breath and remained motionless while pretending to be unaffected at how close the proximity of their faces was. However, her face betrayed her as it turned bright red from embarrassment. "Thanks," she murmured before facing the sink again.
"Sungjae..." She can see him at the corner of her eyes leaning at the countertop while looking at her. Stop staring - you're making me self-conscious.
"Hmmm?"
"Uhm, thank you," she glanced at him then smiled genuinely.
"It's nothing. Call me when you have plans of getting drunk again but I can't promise that I won't do anything next time..." He licked his lips slowly while looking at her in the eye then he winked before laughing out loud.
Her eyes widened in shock, "Yah! Are you flirting with me?!" The corners of her mouth curled upwards as she sprinkled water on him before eventually cracking up.
****** ****** ******
Laughter filled the kitchen as two heads popped on both sides of the doorway, two sets of eyes peeking curiously inside the room.
"They look so natural... Like couples, dating, relationship... Do you get what I'm saying?" Wendy pointed out in a whisper.
"Yeah," Eunkwang nodded. "The last time I saw Sungjae acting up like this was three years ago," he whispered back.
