THE LOOK ON PERCY'S face almost made Azalea feel bad for him, he and his friends went through all that trouble of recruiting two Half-bloods, almost getting killed by some deranged, french manticore and losing a friend in the process only to have one bail on him and join the Artemis' Hunt in less than two hours after the incident.

Talk about ill luck.

"What? But you can't! You have to come to camp Halfblood so Chiron can train you. It's the only way to survive." Percy protested

"I doubt that, Percy Jackson." Azalea spoke up. "It might be the only way for you male Half-bloods, but it certainly isn't for for a girl."

Percy glared at her for a split second, although he had to admit, the manner in which Azalea spoke most of the times were of authority and the fact that she sent him a much frightening glare of her own told him that she unlike most of the Hunters were not to be messed with. Percy sighed and turned to Bianca unable to keep up with Azalea's fierce look. "Bianca, camp is cool! It's got a Pegasus stable and a sword fighting arena and... I mean, what do you get by joining the Hunters?"

"To begin with," Zoe said, "immortality."

"She's kidding, right?" His tone evident of disbelief.

"Zoë rarely kids about anything," Artemis said making Azalea nod in affirmation, "my hunters follow me on my adventures. They are my maid-servants, my companions, my sisters in arms. Once they swear loyalty to me, they are indeed immortal... Unless they fall in battle, which is unlikely. Or break their oath."

"What oath?"

"To foreswear romantic love forever," Artemis said, Azalea went back to cleaning her bow silently, feeling quite bored with the conversation. "To never grow up, never get married. To be a maiden eternally."

"Like you?" Percy asked.

Artemis nodded.

"So you just go around, recruiting Halfbloods-"

"Not just Half-bloods," Zoe interrupted. "Lady Artemis does not discriminate by birth. All who honor the goddess may join. Half-bloods, nymphs, mortals-"

"Which are you then?" Percy questioned, making Azalea stop her cleaning and stare at him with a raised, perfect eyebrow.
'He sure does ask a lot of questions,' she thought. Zoë rarely talked about her life before the hunt despite how close they were, and Azalea knew she was very sensitive about it. Azalea never forced or told Zoe to tell her about it. Zoë obviously wished to keep her past buried and never spoke of again, and Azalea respected that, as she herself didn't exactly go around tell everyone about her story.
