The next two weeks after that fateful day, we would go outside to the firing range to practice shooting all sorts of different weapons. And during that time, we, as a unit, had started to hit our stride.
Every day, we were getting stronger through our training. As we'd gotten over the initial shock of the potential of being an agent to, instead, starting to view ourselves as we were already agents. This influx of confidence began to become a part of all of us, as now instead of fighting or mocking each other. We were building chemistry with each other in our own sort of ways.
Every day before we had to meet Killigan for PT and a day of intense training, I'd started waking up early so that Olivia and I could go for a walk around the plantation. While Jules and Teddy kept on disappearing for stretches of time right before dinner, for their "personal training" as they called it. And while Jules and Olivia went out for their girl talk during their runs, I would work out with Teddy and Cam in the gym. To try to get to know them better.
But it turns out, my idea of getting to know them while working out turned out to be not such a great idea because I found that they didn't want to talk to anyone when they were working out together. I guess, they just didn't want people bothering them during that time.
It was quite astounding how much alike they turned into each other when it was just them. Teddy would go from being all over the place, as a farting, and wise-cracking person to a person that became an extremely focused, and non-talkative fly on the wall. While Cam just stayed the same as the hulking man that lifted weights with nothing to say. So during the times I'd began working out with them, I found it best to do my own thing and not get in their way.
However, once we all were in the dining room to eat lunch or dinner, all things went back to being normal with us crying with laughter at Teddy and Cam's stories about their days of getting into trouble in the military academy. Or talking about how easy training was getting for us as we destroyed our plates of food, after feeling starved after our long days.
Then at the end of the day, we'd all go back to our rooms; or at least most of us, and we'd lie in our beds waiting for what the agency would throw at us next. Fully expecting that we, as a team, could overcome any obstacle that could be put in our way.
That obstacle would be "The Simulation," which we had no idea about until, one day, before Olivia and I went for our morning stroll. Mr. Crenshaw stopped us right after opening the front door.
"Good morning, Mr. Wilson and Ms. DuBois. Dr. Hyde and Mr. Killigan have requested that I take you to level four of the facility today for a briefing on your last training assignment."
"What about Teddy, Cam, and Jules? Shouldn't we get them up first before we go to the briefing?"
"Don't worry about them Mr. Wilson, they'll be down in a sec. I just called up to everyone's rooms to wake them up before I ran into you two. They're supposed to meet us down here in the next five minutes."
"Oh, ok, I don't mind waiting," I said.
"Me neither," Olivia said with a smile.
"So, Mr. Crenshaw, do you know what this briefing is about or what our last training assignment will be?" I asked.
"Mr. Wilson, I have no idea what this briefing will entail, nor do I know what your last assignment will be. But I'm sure you'll find out in a moment. Now, where are the rest of your teammates at? I told them five minutes."
"Well...Jules is pretty messy in our room, so she probably just got caught up a little in it." Olivia answered.
"Oye! I am not messy! It's just organized clutter for a disorganized genius." We heard Jules exclaim as we turned to see her coming down the staircase. Along with Teddy and Cam following close behind her.
