𝐊𝐀𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐓 the weekend answering questions from the police and distracting herself with her internship, but it wasn't working very well. Every time she closed her eyes, she'd hear that horrible, deafening roar and feel the rush of anxiety and fear from watching Scott sacrifice his safety for hers. Even when she passed out from exhaustion, she was soon met with dreams of the night's events. Dark bags had formed under her eyes, and her voice had become raspy with the lack of sleep.
It wasn't just the memories of the deep-rooted terror she felt; it was the nagging feeling that Scott had lied to them about who had killed all those people. Somehow she just knew that it wasn't Derek Hale. She didn't know him or anything about him, but she didn't think that he'd be the one killing people. The noises coming from the hallway and from whoever, or whatever, was chasing them through the school were too animalistic to be human. And that roar! It sounded almost wolf-like. That's what scared her. The fact that she knew that it wasn't an ordinary human that was hunting them is what scared her more than anything else.
Kat wasn't the only one that felt that way. She talked briefly with Allison about what had happened at the school, and the Argent girl agreed. Something weird was going on, almost supernatural. But Kat didn't believe in supernatural things; she believed in science. So Kat was left wondering what could explain why she was considering that it could be something other than that.
Monday morning rolled around, and Kat had watched the sunrise from her bed, her hand absentmindedly petting Kota as she heard Scott's alarm clock start blaring the morning news. The announcer's chipper voice deeply contrasted with the information he was reading.
"On this beautiful Monday morning, Beacon Hills High School is back open after being closed Thursday and Friday. The police search continues for alleged killer Derek Hale -- "
Suddenly the clock was shut off, and Kat sighed and sat up on her bed. She ran a hand down her face as she stood up and made her way to her closet. School would be a distraction, but was she up for the effort she usually put into an average school day? She looked over the clothes inside, not at all feeling up to putting together a decent outfit. She knew that she'd feel better once she did, but it felt like a very daunting task at the moment.
A soft knock sounded from Kat's door, and Melissa poked her head inside. She gave Kat a small smile as she entered the room, sitting beside Kota on Kat's bed. "You up for school today?"
Kat managed to let out a dry chuckle, "I don't even think I'm up to wearing anything but sweats."
"Then don't." Melissa easily said, shrugging as she grinned at her daughter, "You don't have to walk the runway every day."
