Chapter Two

A week later...

...The more time Hinata is with that girl... The more I don't trust her. I've heard things about her... And they weren't positive. But I can't tell Hinata. Knowing him, if I try to warn him about her, he'd freak out and say something like, "Why can't you just let me be happy?!"

I try my best to brush it off, but I can't help but have a nasty feeling in my chest whenever I see those two together. ...Which happened to be a lot, at first.

Hinata would bring her along when he came to eat lunch with me on the roof. I did my best to act as I normally do, but it was getting harder by the day. So today, I decided to tell Hinata that I wanted to eat alone today. I'll tell him I need to think something over. I hope he doesn't question me on that, though.

I go through my classes, barely paying attention, and, in my last class before lunch, instead of taking notes, I start doodling in my journal. I guess Mrs. Otsuka noticed, because she jokingly said, "Mr Kageyama? Is my class that boring?"
I look up, startled, and say, "No, ma'am."
She laughs, and tells me, "Well, if you show me and everyone else what you drew, I'll let you off the hook." She smiles at me. I look down at my drawing, and....

I had drawn Hinata. ...And not in a way you drawn your friends.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, but I don't really want to show anyone..."

She laughs, and says, "Well, that's fine. But I better not catch you next time you're drawing."

"Sorry, Mrs. Otsuka."

~~~
"I'm going to eat lunch by myself today."
"WHAT WHY?" Hinata yells, causing everyone to look our way.
"Shut up, dumbass, I just gotta think about something." I say, trying not to blush at how cute his face is right now.
His face is scrunched up, and his eyes... His eyes always shine, but right now, with the sun reflecting off of them through the window, and with the face he's making...
Damn, I'm blushing.
"KAGEYAMA ARE YOU SICK?! YOU'RE FACE IS LIKE REALLY RED!"
"Dumbass! Shut up, I'm not sick!"
"Then why are you red?!"
"Why are YOU a ginger?"
"That literally has nothing to do with this!"
"Shut it, Ginger."
"AAAAAGHHH!"
I walk away, and I see him looking after me while looking like a 5 year-old that just lost an argument. ...Because he's a mental 5 year-old that just lost an argument.
I find an empty classroom, and sit in one of the desks. I start to recognize the classroom, and I realize it's the one from yesterday that I finished cleaning. I look at the classroom, disappointed at how dirty it is already, and I go to get a broom to sweep again.
I open the broom closet, but I see more then brooms. I see... The dude from yesterday with a girl, once again, making out. I sigh. "Can you hand me a broom?" They look at me, startled, then the guy's face goes from surprise to anger.
"You again! What are you doing?!"
"The classroom was dirty and I was going to sweep it."
"Well then get your broom and get out of here!" He says, and he tries to make sure I can't see the girl's face. It works. Her hair looks familiar, but almost every girl here has longish-black hair, so that isn't saying a lot.
He hands me a broom, and closes the door. Well, he thinks he's handed me a broom... I guess he just grabbed a random handle, because he... He handed me a mop.
I try to open the door, but it's locked. ...They locked themselves in. Of course they did. I'll just go to the other broom closet. I don't wanna deal with this shit right now.
~~~

Finally. I don't have to see Hinata with that girl. I think as Hinata walks in. ...And Keiko walks in not long after. Damn it, even here? We end practice at 5:30, how's she going to get home?

She answers that question for me. "Thanks for offering to bike me home, Shōyō!"

I cringe as she says Shōyō. I still don't get to call him that, so why should she? I've known him longer.

He looks a little awkward after she says that. "Yeah um... Can you call me Hinata please? I-I'm not used to being called Shōyō yet...
But Noya and Kenma call him Shō... My thought trails off, and I grin.

He isn't comfortable with her calling him Shōyō.

I look away from them, and I go to practice my serves. I'm smiling, and Tanaka notices.

"Ooh, what's got you all happy? You, like, never smile, dude, so it must be something good!"

"Just remembered something," I say, hoping to drive him off. It seems to be a good enough answer for him, because he drops it.

When practice ends, I offer to stay and clean up. I don't have to be home by a certain time, since my parents aren't home right now, but they all have a curfew to meet. They all thank me, and Daichi hands me the key.
"Thanks, Kageyama. And don't forget to put the key where it goes."

"I know, Captain."

Finally. I'm home. Cleaning the gym took longer than I imagined, so I'm decently tired by the time I get home. I turn my phone on, since I always turn it off for practice. I see one new message... From a new number. I open it.

???:Hey, this is Keiko! Hinata gave me your number. ;)
Ka: ...Why did you want my number? I haven't even spoken to you before
Ke: Oh, just in case...
Ka: ...
Ka: Are you still with Hinata?
Ke: Nope, he just left. Did you want me to tell him something?
Ka: Yeah, but if he already left I'll just tell him tomorrow
Ke: Let me guess.
Ke: You don't like me and Shōyō together.
Ke: Well guess what.
Ke: He loves me. ME.
Ke: He'll never like you.
Ka: Shut up.
Ke: He'll only like me.
Ka: Shut. Up.
Ke: Me. And only me.
Ka: SHUT. UP!

I turn my phone off.

Bitch.
