It was exactly how he had asked me to be with him. I wanted to ask why but, I left it as it was. Not wanting to do anything but be by his side as he relived this episode.

Venturing through the darkness we came to the an extremely dark room. Silence was spoken louder than our breathing. As though, if we made a sound it would send waves and destroy us.

When he let go of my hands. I knew that we were there. We had arrived. It wasn't long until I noticed him sweating. His fingers had picked up an unfathomable pace.  I Grabbed his hands and his body heat, stung to the touch.

"Caleb." I pulled him. Wanting to free him from what he was feeling. But he doesn't respond.

"Caleb." A tear danced along my cheek. He was staring at me but not moving. Like a statue that was stock in time.

"Caleb are . . ."

"That's where his body layed." He moved me aside gently.

"Where I was standing?" I questioned as I slid a few strands of hair behind my ear. He nodded.

"I'm sorry." I whispered.

"Don't be, how could you have known." He stooped down and presses his hands against his face. He then looked back at me his face drenched in tears. He had cried so softly. No moans were heard escaping his lips.

He took my hands in his and lighty kissed it. I felt his tears trickle unto my skin.

"Don't cry."

"Crying is actually healthy Polaris. " he smiled.

"I know, but not an overwhelming amount." I sat down near him and placed my head on his shoulder.

"I don't really cry so this should be just fine." He smirked.

"Why are you?" Before I could finished. He picked me up and placed me on top of him. And leaves us face to face.

"You care." He leaned down and kissed my forehead repeatedly. I smiled and I looked at him causing the parade of kissing to stop.

"I do." I held his face. Taking in everything that was Caleb Adams. The strength, the walls he had up. Crumbling down to allow me entrance. Fighting the will to open up; to let me help him steer the wheel.

"I want you to have this." He reached in his pocket. Leaning me to one side while he searched through his pocket with his free hand.

He pulled out a Sterling silver chain with a blue pendant. It fluttered in the darkness.

"Are you sure you want to give that to me, it looks valuable?"

"There isn't anything more important to me than you Polaris." He spun me around and connects the two ends behind my neck.

"No matter what happens between us, promise me that you would keep it on, to remember all that we were and all that I am to you."

"What do you mean?"

"Its like a symbol that you still love me, it tells me that you would still be willing to give the love that we share another chance," he hugged me.

"Why think about if we don't make it?

" Because in life, you never know what could happen."

"So why not fight it to stay with me."

"It's not that simple Polaris."

"You're right, I looked at my parents marriage splinter before my brother and I, dad cheated." I nestled my face further into his neck. Taking a deeper whiff of his scent

" Once upon a time, your love is enough to fight everything, enough to make you feel as though your floating, experiencing magic in exchange for their heartbeat, but then life comes in the way ,with all the tradegy along with it and then the tsunami takes over."

"What if life did all of that for us to be here in this moment together?" He pulled me back to look at his hazel eyes. "Would you still choose me?"

The question was the hardest I've ever been asked and I wasn't sure what I'd say.

"Don't think about it too hard." He placed his head on my shoulder as his hands snaked around my waist.

"What would be your answer?"

"I would. . ."

He doesn't continue and I noticed his eyes were closed. Was he sleeping. I wasn't sure but I wasn't going to wake him to find out.

Closing my eyes and becoming one with his arms and the moment. Slept took over.

If destiny permits

You are probably like she always says that.

Hope you are enjoying it thus far.

Finding out about their love for one another is still quite a process. Just as you are learning so am I.
