the group walked into the gym late, arms wrapped around one another. they all went there separate ways to start dancing. corbyn pulled zach to the dance floor, and they started to dance.
"i cannot believe you actually came." corbyn said in disbelief.
"and i cannot believe how beautiful you are." zach replied making corbyn blush a heavy red.
"put this rose in your tux." corbyn spoke while handing a rose to zach. it matched the one on his wrist.
the song changed and the dj started talking.

after some time, the dj spoke again.
"this a slow dance, so grab your partner and dance!" he announced.
each couple went into the center again and began to slow dance.
zach and corbyn go back to their places and hold each other close. the brunette's hand slips down to corbyn's waist, so they two began to rock back and forth.
"zach, i love you so much." corbyn sighed.
"i love you too." zach responded.
"it's been 5 months." corbyn said blushing, so zach placed a peck on his lips.
"you and i aren't for five months," zach reassured, "you're my bitch, forever."
typically, that wouldn't be something couples say, but corbyn and zach were different.
the song changed again. the two carried on dancing to the pop music until a blonde girl walked into the building, and zach got distracted.
"i'll be right back.."zach trailed off, leaving corbyn confused until he made eye contact with kay cook.
before corbyn could follow, tate pulled corbyn to dance with her and jonah.
"hey c!" tate yelled over the loud music.
"hi guys!" corbyn yelled back. jonah waved. the three danced around a little before corbyn started to get anxious.
"do you know where zach is?" corbyn asked into the air. jonah and tate both shook their heads. corbyn believed it, so he made his way to his other friends. then, the song decided to change again. it was a slow song.
"god damn it." corbyn breathed out before sitting on the bleachers. corbyn put his head in between his knees until a figure stood before him, and he heard a voice.
"may i have this dance?" it was jack. corbyn looked up and saw no one on the dance floor.
"fine, you asshole." so corbyn and jack went on making everyone awe.
"why aren't you dancing with daniel?" corbyn asked his best friend.
"because i have to dance with you at some point, you're my best friend." jack explained making corbyn smile again. the two hugged and rocked to the melody of the music. when the song ended, jack and corbyn exchanged their 'i love you's' before handing jack off to daniel. corbyn stayed with his friend group, and they all had a fun time dancing around. but zach and kay were nowhere to be seen.

it was time to announce the prom royalty, and the school's key student went up.
"so today, i found out i'm announcing prom royalty because i got selected as class speak for graduation. i think that's super cool, but if you were nominated or if you weren't, buckle your seatbelt as i announce this year's throne." corbyn announced throughout the auditorium.
"your prom royalty is- oh my god! gabbie gonzalez and christina harris!" corbyn screamed making the whole room squeal and cheer. as the two girls went up to claim their crowns, corbyn saw zach and kay slip into the gymnasium. zach still had the tux in his jacket. that made corbyn smile.
gabbie and christina shared their dance to an elvis presley song. at the end, the girls shared a peck before gabbie was pulled off by the same blonde girl. corbyn watched but didn't realize christina standing beside him.
"she's everywhere." christina puffed.
"right." corbyn agreed.
"let's dance." christina suggested. corbyn shrugged. they submerged into the dancing, but it didn't last long.
christina saw gabbie walk back into the event with an angry look on her face, so corbyn told her to comfort the pregnant girl.
before corbyn could make his way back to his boyfriend, he was handing a note that read:
'last place: your locker'
corbyn smiled. he walked up to daniel to let him know that he'd be going to his locker to finish the scavenger hunt. with that, corbyn left to the lockerroom.
meanwhile, zach was asking for corbyn. when he finally reached daniel, he asked where corbyn was.
"hey daniel, where's corbyn?" zach quizzed the blue-eyed boy.
"he's finishing the scavenger hunt, duh." daniel responded.
zach's face completely fell.
he already finished the scavenger hunt, so what did he mean?
and then it hit zach.
