Nate's POV
"I want to talk to you guys." Valerie says motioning to Seb and I to follow her upstairs.
"Today was very weird. The entire time Chase and I were shopping, I could swear I felt multiple eyes on me." She say once we're in my office and both Seb and I glance at one another. My men haven't been arranged yet.
"What's going on? What are you hiding? What was with that look?" Valerie says looking at us suspiciously.
"We're not hiding anything." I answer
"We only glanced at each other because we both care about your safety and that glance was to ask the other person if they have a plan or not." Seb says to confirm my words.
"So what's the plan?" She asks with her hands on her hips not believing our words.
"Well for starters, I am going to have some bodyguards watching you both." I reply
"I don't mind you getting some bodyguards for Chase, his safety should be our first priority, but I'll be fine without any. I can protect myself." She says
"We both know you can, but we worry too much and this would make us feel better to know someone is watching you when we can't." I tell her and she looked as if she wanted to disagree, but she goes against it.
"Alright." She says and we all head back downstairs. As we make our way down the steps, Chase runs up to us and I pick him up.
"Daddy, what does dating mean?" He asks and both Valerie and I look at Asher sternly.
"He's only asking because of Chris's love life." He says raising both his hands up.
"Yeah right, I'm the one who was making jokes about my love life and Chase just happened to hear." Chris says defending himself.
"I'll talk to you later." Valerie say staring straight at Asher.
"And dating is when..... you really really like someone..... and so you go on a lot of play dates with them." I say and look at Valerie for reassurance and she nods.
"I really really like Rabecca and I always go on playdate with her. Am I dating her?" He asks and Asher bursts out laughing and I give him the death glare.
"Well, you also have to be 20 to start dating." Valerie says and I nod agreeing.
"Technically for those who are more experience, you can d--" before Asher was able to finish his sentence, Valerie threw a throw pillow at him.
"A mother knows better than an uncle."
"And they're scarier too." I say taking a step to the left.
"Alright, I think it is officially past someone's bedtime and we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow, so goodnight everyone." She says and pushes her brothers out.
Once Chase was tucked into bed, we both headed up to our bedroom. After shutting the door close, Valerie begins to speak.
"What more do you know about all of this?" She asks
"What do you mean?" I answer
"That look you shared with Seb meant more than what you were letting on and we both know I'm right so instead of continuing to go back and forth, just tell me because I won't stop until you do." She says and I know her well enough to know it's true. I take her hands in mine and say,
"You're right, but please trust me that I know what I'm doing. I will make sure you won't need to worry, just follow my lead." I say and with a loud sigh, she nods in agreement.
