It's almost midnight. Me and Emma are still by Michael in his bed. I don't wanna go. I can't. I don't have the heart to leave him alone.

Emma is hugging me continuously. She won't let go. And I hope that'll be the same for Michael. He can't let go either. Otherwise I don't know how I'll live.

"Becky.." Emma whispers.

I turn my head away from Michael for a split second.

"What?" I ask in a mutter. Emma shows me the time.

"Nearly midnight. Maybe you should get some sleep. I'll keep an eye on Michael if you want," she says.

"No, Emma. I'm staying awake. I can't leave him, even if I'm in the same room with my eyes closed. I can't go to sleep when he's fighting to wake up. It's irony," I say. Emma nods.

"I never thought of that I guess.." she says.

I smile faintly. I turn back to Michael. He's getting his colour back bit by bit. But he isn't waking up. I sigh.

"Please come back, angel. I need you here. I know you can come back. I know you've got that fight in you," I say.

I lean my head on his chest. I can hear a heartbeat.. He's alive. But he isn't waking up.

I can feeling him breathing, his chest is moving up and down, taking my head with it. But he isn't waking up.

All the signs of being alive are there.. But he isn't waking up.

Ugh, Michael. Come back. I know you're not badass and you can't really fight, but try just this once. It's only a war with yourself that you're battling here.

*2 hours later*

It's 1:47am. 8th July 1988. Michael is still out of it. I can't even take it anymore. It's been too long.

"Emma.." I whisper. She looks over at me.

"Yes?" she asks.

I bury my head down in her lap. I can feel her stroking my hair.

"He isn't coming back is he?" I ask sadly. She shrugs.

"He's alive.. but it's been so long, you'd think he would come round again by now.. so I don't know.." she says.

Earlier, it was 'of course he will.'

No, I can't let the odds drop. I don't want them to drop. But they have dropped. I need Michael to live!

"Emma, he's got to live!" I cry. Emma embraces me gently.

"Only time can tell.." she says.

She's stroking my hair again. It's comforting, but I know what I'd rather have to comfort me..

I look at Michael once more. His eyes are fluttering.

They're fluttering! They're fluttering!

"Emma!" I cry, shaking her.

She looks up and smiles.

"See? He's coming back!" she says.

We watch Michael intently as his eyes continue to flutter. With each flutter, they're opening ever so slightly.

He lets out a little cough so he can get used to breathing whilst being conscious. Yes Michael! You can do it!

His eyes finally open fully. But they're a little shallower than normal. I don't care. Even if they were shallow, they would still have deepness. That's how magical his eyes are.

I leap up from Emma and watch him as he looks around. His eyes finally meet mine.

"Becky..?" he calls faintly.

My eyes fill with tears. He removes his oxygen mask and looks up at me, trying to get used to unaided breathing.

He reaches out one of his hands. I take it, making him smile.

"I missed you," he says.

That makes my heart melt.

"I missed you so much.." I say.

I hug him tightly. I don't want this to end, ever.

"I want more than a hug baby," he says.

Ooh, ooh! I know!

"Alright," I smile, leaning in and kissing his lips gently.

I don't wanna hurt him too much by getting intense, so I keep it as a gentle one.

Once I break the kiss, I see Michael's face. He's smiling uncontrollably. That's a beautiful smile. I've never seen that one before. He needs to do that one a little more than he does.

"I'm so happy you're ok," I say with a smile.

He smiles too.

But then it turns into a look of worry.

"Yeah.. thank you. But I bet The Jax won't be."
