Chapter 2: "A Loss of Words"

As I ran away, I felt myself break in two, with tears cascading down my face.

Aaron was screaming after me to stop, but I wouldn't. I didn't want to hear his voice and I knew I would punch him if I got the opportunity. It wasn't worth it.

As my legs carried me away, I held onto any piece of hope that not all guys were as shitty as he was, but if Aaron was the nicest guy I knew, then it would only be downhill from here.

But before I knew what was happening, I had collided into a large muscular man, leaving me crashing into the ground. As I tried to get up, I saw his feet turn to face me.

"Hey, are you ok?"

Looking up I spot the most majestic person I had ever seen, who was rubbing the back of his neck nervously.

He was almost a foot taller than me, no wonder I didn't have an effect when I crashed into him.

Trying to speak clearly my voice manages to come out just above an almost whisper.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry."

Standing up straight, I 'look him in the eyes, but my thoughts can't help but wonder, causing my eyes to follow. He was an almost 6ft 1, extremely buff with an amazing tan. As I found myself back to his eyes, I couldn't help but stare, they were the most perfect colour of blue with the tiniest splashes of green.

As he started laughing and I snap back into reality and can't help but blush.

"Sorry did you say anything?"

As I looked down at the ground ashamed, I could still hear his laughter.

Looking up, I find myself glaring at him.

"What?"

I was confused as to why he was still laughing.

By now he should at least be freaked out or uncomfortable around me.

"God, you're cute."

Gazing up at him again and I find myself smiling but it doesn't last long, causing all the problems I was running away from to stay up with me and as I feel myself beginning to cry.

"I didn't mean to offend you." He spoke in the most genuine tone, but it made me cry harder. He seemed to care so much and that was what I needed, just not right now. "Look, do you need me to call anyone, or take you home. I'm guessing you didn't drive, since you ran into me."

He put his hand out motioning it to me and I grabbed it. He helped me walk over to a park bench nearby. I looked up at him and through my sobbing tears, I whispered to him before crying into his chest.

"Clarisa, my name's Clarisa."

He held me softly and rested his head on mine.

"Jake."

His voice was soft and delicate while saying it.

It seemed as though we were sitting there for hours just listening to each other breathing. Well, not really. After a while, he started talking. Asking me if I was ok. But every time he asks, my body would tense, and I would start to slowly cry.
