Sonic continued to run after Scourge, but due to his knee injury, he was unable to reach his maximum speed. The green hedgehog had returned to the DEN and taken Rouge hostage, in order to escape safely.
                          
 Sonic arrived shortly thereafter and joined Shadow to save Rouge. Both were in an offensive fighting position, while Scourge had Rouge in front of him, his arm was around the bat's neck and with the other hand he kept Rouge's arm behind his back. However something caught everyone's attention, the temperature of the place had risen while it was lit by a red glow.
 Then everyone realized that it was Umbra, who was standing again. A red aura enveloped his entire body. It grew more and more and everyone felt a strong heat hit their faces. It looked like the fire was starting in front of everyone.
                          
 "It worked. IT WORKED." Airam, who was still lying on the ground, screamed in epiphany.
                          
 Umbra's eyes were completely white, empty, as if Umbra appeared to be blind. Green flames emerged from his hands, which quickly took his entire arms. They didn't seem to bother Umbra.
                          
 He looked at Airam's torso, which was still laughing. But in the blink of an eye, the hedgehog was on his torso, which immediately stopped laughing because of the fright. Umbra looked into Airam's eyes without saying a word. The hedgehog's body temperature began to make the synthetic skin slowly melt. In another blink of an eye Umbra had crushed Airam's head, stepping on it.
                          
 Everyone was startled to see this scene. From it came small pieces and a black liquid. The part of the floor where the hedgehog will step has sunk. Umbra then looked at the hedgehogs. Suddenly Umbra and Scourge were gone and a trail of flames had appeared. A shock wave knocked everyone who stayed.
                          
 Umbra had advanced on Scourge, grabbing him by the neck. Both were at an extraordinary speed. They finally stopped when they hit a mountain. Both were out of DEN. Flames burned Scourge's neck and hands, which were now trying to remove the black hedgehog's hands from his neck.
                          
 But Scourge no longer had the strength to do so, when he was about to pass out, Sonic and Shadow came up behind Umbra, wrapping their arms around Umbra's neck and waist, and pulling him hard, causing him to release Scourge and push him away. away from the green hedgehog.
                          
 Sonic now carried Scourge. Shadow motioned with his hand for Sonic to run away taking Scourge with him, and shortly afterwards he went into an offensive fighting position.
 Umbra started walking slowly towards the three. Steam coming out of his body was now visible. A blood-red light now completely covered his eyes. A lot of sweat dripped from the faces of the three hedgehogs, the heat wave that hit them was hotter now. When looking at Umbra, his image seemed to flicker.
                          
 "I'll be back in a little while, I have to throw the garbage away . Can you take care of things here without me until I get back?" Sonic spoke.
                          
 Shadow raised his thumb in response. Sonic smiled and ran, disappearing in a blue blur. At the same time Umbra ran after them, but then Shadow appeared in front of him with a Chaos Spear in his hand, which soon threw him in his direction. Umbra just held the spear, without any difficulty. Shadow was startled, but with no time for another reaction, Umbra kicked him in the belly and threw the spear in the direction Sonic ran, like a blind shot, hoping to hit him.
                          
 Sonic was still running and was already at a considerable distance, but then he realizes that a light has passed by his side, the hedgehog then stops and looks in the direction in which the light was suddenly an explosion. "What was this?" Sonic decided not to waste any more time and runs again.
                          
 Shadow gets up with his hand on his belly, but ends up falling to his knees. The kick really hurt.
