"Why am i here again?""Because you need to loosen up! And you owe us for skipping out on the last party." Tanaka stated, reaching for a bottle of beer on the counter, "Maybe having one of these will make you less... tense." He said, offering Iwaizumi the bottle.
Iwaizumi rolled his eyes, taking the bottle in the process and taking a sip, deciding that since Daichi's the designated driver he could get a bit drunk, it is a party after all.
After about an hour, everyone was very drunk and not at all fit to do... well anything really.
"Get oUT THE WAY!" Nishinoya shouted from the top of the staircase, waiting for everyone to move before jumping over the side onto a pool table, almost breaking it in the process, "And that was for Asahi!" He slurred as he fell off of the table, Tanaka running up to him and shouting how cool he was before Sugawara dragged them both to the kitchen so Nishinoya's leg could be patched up since he cut it during the fall, his arm didn't look in good shape though either.
Iwaizumi finished off his bottle and left the three to it, having had enough of all the shouting over a song blasing through the speakers, something by Katy Perry he thought.

After two hours, he was bordering on tipsy, talking to Kiyoko Shimizu on the second floor about some project that was due in that week, honesty he didn't remember.
In the corner of his eye he noticed some guy with black hair pointing over to him, a drunken smile stuck on his face. It was intriguing, so he tries to listen in, "The dark haired guy? Yeah 'm sure I've seen them together around school." A brunet said as he turned towards Iwaizumi, causing him to pretend to listen to Kiyoko, laughing at a joke she made.
He zoned out for a a few seconds, snapping out of it when he heard something about a cat prince, "...I will sacrifice peasant Oikawa." He caught the end of a guy's sentence, the brunet he noticed earlier responding with something about him being 'too beautiful to die!', they were clearly drunk, Iwaizumi could eben bet that theey might be high too.
What really caught his attention though, was what the brunet, Oikawa, said next, "Plus, don't you wanna see me do your dare? He's cute so I'm not gonna not do it.", a dare, huh? Was that why that guy was pointing to him a minute ago? He had his suspicions but he let it go, talking to Kiyoko until she said she had to leave, something about her pet cat being lonely and her friend Yachi wanting to talk about something in the morning.
-
On the Monday after the party, he noticed that one of the guys from the other night had nodded to him when talking to his friends, he couldn't be bothered to deal with it this early though so he let it go in favour of listening to Hanamaki talk about some meme or something.
During the break between classes though, the brunet from before actually came up to him, eagerly introducing himself. Iwaizumi remembered something about a dare, choosing to, hesitantly, introduce himself, shaking the hand the other - Oikawa Tooru - held out.
After a few seconds of silence where neither of them said anything, Iwaizumi asked if Oikawa needed to see the nurse, he seemed to snap out of whatever he was thinking in that moment, saying something about studying.
As Oikawa suggested something about walking home together Iwaizumi internally decided to go along with whatever was going on, he needed something fun to happen inbetween all his boring study sessions, so he asked about sports, more specifically if Oikawa liked volleyball, which turned out to be a resounding yes.
-
Over the two-week-long holiday it seemed as if he was always texting Oikawa, and when he wasn't he WISHED he was, it was... a weird feeling, to say the least.
-
When school started again, he wondered if Oikawa would speak to him or not, the thought of the dare from the party pulling at the back of his mind, but to his surprise, Oikawa did approach him before class started, a short conversation took place before a short guy with dyed hair appeared and took the brunet away.
During lunch he found himself back on his phone, texting to Oikawa even though they were literally in the same room. When he didn't respond back like he normally did, he decided to look over to him, accidentally eavesdropping on his conversation, "I'm doing your dumb dare! I have a plan! Invite him to the fireworks display at the end of the month and kiss him there!".
Oh
Oh
So that was the dare, so that was why Oikawa spent so much time talking to him. Alright then, he might as well have some fun with this, everytime Oikawa tries to initiate any flirting or whatever, he'll get nothing, no flirting back, not even a second of embarrassment or anything of the kind. By the end of this he'll just feel guilty. THIS will be fun.
-
Over the next two months, he tried to not react, tried to be like a stone wall, cold and unforgiving. Turns out, Oikawa can bring out the best in a stone wall, and make it roll it's eyes and smile way too much. Once the fireworks display rolled around, Oikawa didn't even ask him to go, forgetting about it and just... talking to Iwaizumi, like they were actual friends, and Iwaizumi actually liked it, he liked having Oikawa as a friend, and honestly, he may have developed a slight crush on him too.
-
Every two months there was a firework show st the fair just outside of town, Oikawa was going to invite him two months ago, but gave up in favour of just talking to him.
So now Iwaizumi asked Oikawa to the display. By this point he had honestly forgot about the dare, so when they sat on the hill over looking all the flashing lights below, he just... talked. Talked about feelings. He was most definitely not used to doing that, but it turned out really well, even ending with a kiss in the forest.
Now being back at home, the tingling feeling in his lips was still there, and the butterflies in his stomack were still fluttering around, but the memory of a dare still pulled at the back of his mind, making him wonder if any of this was real or not.
