"you don't get it lilah, this place has to be at least $14,000 a month. it's insane." i told her, staring up at the huge building in front of me.

"maybe they're all like ceos or models or something." she joked. "you have 5 minutes, get in there!" she encouraged me. "i love you, be safe." she said, hanging up before i could reply.

this is it. i sighed, getting out of my car. i wouldn't be in this situation if my ex wasn't a cheating asshole. to be fair, i wasn't even that mad that nathan cheated on me. i was more so mad at the fact that it left me homeless.

i walked to the door, the doorman opening it for me. "who are you here for?" he asked me with a bright smile, somehow knowing i wasn't a frequent in this building.

"uh... apartment 808." i said, not knowing the names of my (possible) soon to be roommates.

"what's your name?" he laughed.

"ashton." i smiled.

"okay, ashton, you can head on up." he said, opening the elevator for me.

"thank you..." i trailed off, not knowing his name.

"brooks." he smiled, the elevator door closing before i could respond. i fiddled with my fingers as i waiting to hit the eighth floor.

i walked down the hall, coming across apartment 808. i stood there for a minute before hesitantly knocking on the door. not even 10 seconds went by when a guy, probably around 20-25, opened the door, shirtless. he looked at me in confusion.

"hi?" he said, but it came out as more of a question. he quickly threw a shirt on.

"hi, i'm ashton." i shyly smiled.

"oh... OH! come on in." he said. "i'm colby." he introduced, holding his ring clad hand out. i shook it, walking into the apartment. "you can just take a seat on the couch. the boys will be out soon." he said. so they're all boys? god.

all at once, the other three guys walked into the beautiful kitchen and living room.

"ashton?" the one with tattoos asked me.

"that's me." i smiled.

"jake." he said. "i thought you'd be a guy." he laughed.

"i thought there'd be at least one girl living here." i laughed.

"sam is probably the closest thing to a girl that lives here." jake said, making everyone laugh.

"well, i'm sam." another one of them said.

"corey." the last boy introduced.

"nice to meet you." i smiled.

"you too... you can take a look around the place, ask us if you have any questions." sam smiled.

"you guys are okay with having a girl live with you?" i asked, verifying.

"i mean, we all thought you were a guy but either way, we're just looking for a roommate." corey laughed.

"okay, cool." i laughed. sam took it upon himself to walk me around the apartment, showing me what room and bathroom would be mine. nathan and i's room was the size of the bathroom at this place.

"what'd you think of the place?" colby asked as sam and i sat on the couch with the rest of them.

"i love it. and ryker said $750 a month?" i asked, still skeptical on the price.

"yep. you'd be expected to clean up a little bit as well, if you're okay with that." sam said.

"i'm perfectly okay with that." i laughed. "why did your last roommate move out, if you don't mind me asking?"
