That next week were mid-terms. After practice, the guys and I would study, or attempt to study while we ate at the diner.
Brett had mandatory duty in the library everyday after practice, so it was the second week in a row that I didn't get to hang out with him.
One night at the diner, a girl walked in as we were getting started. I immediately recognized her.
"Yo," I nudged Ethan. "that's naked girl." I whispered.
"Yeah, her and Johnathon are pretty serious now." Ethan whispered back.
The girl walked up to our table and Jonathon got up to greet her. "This is Katrina. Katrina, these are the guys, Craig and Boomer. Ethan you already know, and Al." He introduced us,
"Hey." We all smiled.
"So, Katrina. I heard you're very smart," Ethan smiled. "think you can help us study for our mid-terms?"
"Sure," She smiled. "as long as you don't make me do your work for you." She joked.
"Girl got jokes." Boomer laughed as we made room for her at the table.
"So stereotypical," Craig chuckled. "nerds."
"She's no nerd." Jonathon interjected. "She's a Delta."
Ethan nudged me softly. She definitely didn't act like a sorority girl.
"Shit, that means you're a genius!" Craig said, taking a bit from his burger.
"I guess." Katrina smiled.
"Then please, help us." Ethan begged, handing one of his books to her.
As we were packing up later that night, Katrina grabbed my arm. "You're that new running-back's girlfriend right?" She asked.
"Yeah she is." Boomer chuckled.
"I just want to make sure you lock up your man," She warned. "one of my sorority sisters is in love with him."
"What's her name?" Ethan asked, acting like he didn't know.
"Liz," Katrina answered then turned back to me. "she'll do anything to get him out of your hands. She's just that type of person."
"So she's a bitch," Ethan said. "tell us something we don't know."
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. "Why Brett though?" I asked.
"Yeah, no one knew him before now," Boomer said. "now girls are fighting over him."
"No one is fighting, Boomer." I sighed.
"I'm just giving you a heads up," Katrina said, touching my shoulder. "I'm on your side."
"Thanks," I had no way to reply to her. All I knew was that I really needed to figure out a way to keep Brett from falling into Liz's trap.
Thursday morning, I was literally one of the last people in class working on my mid-term. It was Sports Management, which was fairly easy, but I couldn't focus. I watched as several more people left the classroom. I was down to the last five questions. I leaned back in my seat and let out a sigh. I tapped my pencil on the desk, but stopped when I heard my professor clear his throat. I had given up on this test. I bubbled in the last few answers and quickly got up from my desk.
I went straight to my apartment and took a nap.
When I woke up from my nap, I had gotten a text from Mia. It was a screen shot of a picture on Instagram. It was from Liz's profile. A picture of her and Brett both of them smiling for a selfie. The caption read: Study date. She had used a heart and books emoji as well.
