Gray: "(l/n), welcome back. Are you ready to descend to the lower floors?"
(Y/n): "Yes sir."
He turned and started walking toward the door. You swore you could smell that sweet scent again. You felt like this man was trustworthy, but you did your best to stay aware and ready if something should disapprove that. You followed by his side warily.
You let out a sigh of relief. Zack hadn't moved from his spot. He finally decided to listen to you. When you passed by him, you turned your body towards the priest, acting as a block in case Gray tried to pull anything towards Zack. You eyed him as he walked on. He was smiling at you, but it didn't seem malicious. Once he had passed by Zack, you joined back at his side.
Gray: "Goodness, I didn't realize you were so determined to keep Zack safe. You needn't be so wary. I swore I wouldn't harm him."
(Y/n): "I want to trust you, but I'm sure you understand it's hard to do such a thing in my position."
You both stepped into the elevator.
Gray: "Of course, (l/n). I fully understand your situation. However, I do wonder what would make you place such importance on saving young Zack."
You averted eye contact and felt your cheeks gain a slight warmth.
(Y/n): "Well I care about him. If something were to happen...honestly, I wouldn't be able to keep going.. I mean- it's b-because we had a deal. He can't make good on it if he's dead."
Gray: "Oh, I see. How endearing. It is a bizarre occurrence, to say the least."
He seemed entertained and pleased with your reply.
Gray: "How about the deal you conducted, then. If I recall, It sounded like he plans to kill you once you escape."
(Y/n): "How does he know so much...?"
You looked at your feet.
(Y/n): "Yes, that's right.. But that's...It's okay.
If it makes Zack happy, then it's alright. I'm going to do my best to help him until then."Gray: "You seem hesitant."
You sighed unhappily.
(Y/n): " ..I have been thinking about it, honestly...I wanted to die at the beginning, but, now...after I've been reminded of who I am... and am growing to...enjoy.. Zack's company... I don't really want that for myself anymore.. After all, who will be there to take care of him when I'm gone? That big oaf.."
Gray: "What is it that you want now?"
(Y/n): "I just... want to be able to stay by his side... I want him to be happy and healthy..."
You smiled sadly,
subconsciously acknowledging the fact that the first part won't likely occur.Gray: "Hmm. I see. It would be safe to assume that young Zack has given you a reason to continue living. Is that correct?"
(Y/n): "Yes, I guess that's right."
Gray: "Hm. Very well. What an interesting turn of events."
Gray opened his book as the elevator slowly came to a stop. Purple smoke spilled out of it's yellowed pages.
(Y/n): "It was him after all...that means he must have seen my little...outbreak..."
Gray: "I would like you to complete a trial on each level as we make our way to Danny's floor."
(Y/n): "Fine, as long as it doesn't take too long."
