Nope, this can't be. Kong lay in the dark, with Thara sleeping next to him. He couldn't possibly still have feelings. He knew he couldn't possibly hate Arthit, even if he wanted to. But having feelings for him, and wanting to get back with him, was a completely different situation. Something he certainly didn't want to happen. Or did he?
He stared at the window, focussing his attention on the moonlight entering the room. Was it even possible for them to be together? It would be a dream come true, if not for their complicated past. But what was their past anyway? Just misunderstanding. Kong knew he felt something for Arthit, there was no denial. He knew he had never looked at anyone else after Arthit, there was only Arthit for him.
Yet, somewhere in his mind, something was holding him back. He couldn't drop all his rationality to be with the man who had broken his trust, caused him pain and left him alone for 7 years. The conflict inside his brain only kept rising with each passing day. For the past few days that he spent at Arthit's house, he had seen a loving, caring and completely devoted Arthit, who was ready to do anything for him and Thara.
He sighed, pushing this debate in his head by one more night, hoping he would get some sleep.
"Sweetheart, let's settle on equal." Arthit laughed. It was a bright new day, and Thara and Arthit were playfully arguing about something. Arthit, showing his cute dimple as he casually sat on the bed.
Kong rubbed his thumb on the object he was holding, as he stood by the door of Arthit's room. Thara was so comfortable with Arthit already. From the very beginning Arthit managed to capture Thara's attention, without them even knowing they were related. Thara would go on and on about how good her Mr. Sun really was. Kong clearly remembered the time after the accident, when he noticed the beautiful 'sun' necklace around her neck. In fact, it was the very thing he was holding in his hand right now.
Thara had almost fought with Kong to let her keep the necklace, but Kong had somehow convinced her that the necklace was important and it would get lost. Back then, he only wanted to throw it away, but now, he could almost see Thara wearing it, keeping it, a part of Arthit with her.
Thara pouted, whispering something in Arthit's ear. It was as if Arthit had cast a spell on both of them. Just a few days ago Thara was smashing his phones, and went around practically hating the man, but right now, all he could see was a very endearing conversation, and the look in Thara's eyes was far from hatred. It was admiration and love. Thara's resolve had broken already, and Kong knew it would take no time for his resolve to completely shatter as well.
He sighed, and tried to focus on the conversation.
"No! I love him more!" Thara said stubbornly. Arthit lifted his gaze to Kong, and Kong raised an eyebrow.
"But sweetheart, I have loved him longer, for many years, even before you were born." Arthit said looking straight at Kong, and his stomach did a flip, at this indirect confession.
"What are you two talking about?"
"Mommy, Mr. Sun says he loves you more, but I already told him I love you the most." Thara spoke sincerely. Kong felt a blush creeping on his face. Did these two have nothing better to discuss, than who loved him more?
"Fine. But how is it my fault that you were born earlier?" Thara sat on the bed with a hmph.
"Then I clearly love your mommy more." Arthit chuckled at his tiny victory, and Kong could just shake his head. Thara's face now sported a full scowl, as she hated losing. Sadly for her, her dad hated it just as much.
"But, my princess, your mommy loves you the most, you're above everyone else." Kong said moving to her, and bending down, putting his hands on her shoulders.
