When we get home I immediately run up to my room.
"Don't run up the stairs!" My father yells at me.
Ever since I was little I have had a habit of sometimes running up and down the stairs. My parents always tell me not to because I could trip and hurt myself and I did once, but I still keep doing it. It's the only rush I get here. Well, this and climbing onto the roof of our house. You can imagine how they reacted the day they saw me doing that.
I drop onto my bed sighing. Turning to the alarm clock on the small bedside table my eyes widen when I see the time.
17:00
I was supposed to be home two hours ago.
Caleb must be worried about me.
He always gets worried when he doesn't know where I am. Typical big brother stuff. I hate him pulling that card I mean he's only six months older than me.
As I close my eyes wanting to drift off for a nap my bedroom door flies open and my panicked brother ran in Susan and Robert trailing behind him.
"Beatrice!" Caleb cries as he pulls me into his tight embrace.
"Don't worry I'm okay." I whisper in his ear gently patting his back.
"Where were you?" He asks, grabbing my shoulders and forcing me to look up at him.
"I wasn't paying attention when I was walking and I got very lost. But dad was having a meeting in one of the buildings in the street I was in. When he came out he saw me and brought me home."
"We were very worried about you?" Robert said.
"I didn't notice." I say sarcastically.
This makes him chuckle a bit and I smile.
"Beatrice you're bleeding!" Susan gasps pointing at my elbow.
I had completely forgotten about my injury.
"What happened?" Caleb asked, his soulful eyes widening in concern.
"Some Dauntless guy ran into me. When I fell I scratched myself on a loose nail."
"Damn hooligans." Robert hisses under his breath.
"Let's go get that cleaned up."
Susan ushered me into the bathroom and closed the door so we could have some privacy.
Sitting on the edge of the tub I roll up my sleeve while she ran some water into the sink and retrieved the first aid kit from the cupboard under the sink.
"So what was your test result?" She asks gently wiping a wet tissue over the cut. The cut stung as the water touched it and I fought the urge to cry out.
"What was yours?" I ask with a smirk.
She chuckles at my behavior.
We are not allowed to tell anyone our test results.
"Yeah, just thought I could trick you into telling me." She laughs.
Once all the blood was cleaned she wrapped a bandaid around my elbow.
"Are you happy with your result?"
" Yes I am, aren't you?" She asks raising one eyebrow.
"I'm not sure " I shrug.
I want to be free to do what I want but I have to stay in Abnegation despite my heart telling me otherwise. But who knows maybe I'll enjoy staying in Abnegation after a while.
