Holly Blue looked at the sky, her shimmering dark blue wings almost glowing in the soft moonlight. She glanced at the egg sitting motionless, a feeling of warmth filling her chest.
"Holly? Are you out here?" Called a sweet voice quietly. Procilla, her wife, walked out from where she was making them a midnight snack.
"I'm here. Just enjoying the stars," she said in her soft voice, her antennae curling forward as her wife appeared next to her, her green and pink scales looking stunning in the moonlight.
"Be honest, darling, you just wanted to stay by our baby," Procilla said with a small laugh.
Holly's tail curled around Procilla's fondly, staring up at her with eyes squinted from her grin. "You got me, but don't say you don't want to do the same."
Procilla stifled a laugh. "Yeah, it's true. I'm weak for our unborn sweetie."
Holly felt a weight on her shoulder and whipped her head to her wife, who was now resting half asleep while using her as a pillow. Holly chuckled and carefully rested her head on Procilla's, both sliding to a laying position. The quiet buzzing of HiveWings in the distance and Crickets chirping were the only noises as the two drifted into a peaceful sleep, the snacks and any plan they may have had abandoned for this quiet, lovely moment.
