JUNE 27TH
THE LIMOJANES ARM LATCHED onto the handle on top of the limo, sitting in the back of the vehicle. Everyone else was still piling in, and Jane was early onto the limo.
Her equipment bag was in the center, and Jane saw Beth and Adam laughing together, entering the limo.
"Hi Jane!" Beth chirped happily.
"Hey." Jane smiled weakly, having a lot
of pent up emotions.A few more kids piled in, and Jane noticed that Luis wasn't there. She looked into her lap, still feeling guilty. Averman got in and immediately looked at Jane.
He nudged Beth, who shrugged.
"Something's up." Beth whispered to Averman, watching the girl. She didn't notice that the two teens had their eyes plastered on her.
"Has anything happened back at home?" He asked, worried for his cousin. He figured if anybody knew anything, it would be Beth.
Beth bit her lip in thought for a moment, before nodding. "Actually, yeah. I'll tell you later, when she's not here." Beth murmured quietly.
The last person to enter the limo was Luis, who was bolting towards the doors. Once he was inside, he avoided looking at Jane, and sat away from her.
Beth sighed as the car pulled away, and Jane's face and state didn't change. Who knew what was running through her head, and the girls had only seen the recent texts from Corey.
Mostly everyone was quiet, the tension thickening. The first game against Trinidad.
The team was strong, but they could help their internal doubts and emotions towards the game. Kenny was bouncing his knee, Charlie was tapping his finger on his knee, and Dwayne was running his fingers along his cowboy hat.
Coach Bombay took a different form of transportation, his whereabouts currently a mystery to the teens.
Once they arrived at the arena, Jane looked up and gulped.
They all grabbed their bags and got off, Jane being last. Averman looked at her and cocked his head, realizing her and Luis weren't talking or even looking at each other.
