She stood up, studying the Golden Pear from all sides, looking for any hint or clue about how or where it was created. China came to her mind, giving her a sour smile. Nothing was too insane, not even magical fruit. Now she needed a talking animal friend, and she could depart to save the dazzling prince charming.

She rolled her eyes, setting the pear on her desk. With no proper idea of what to do with it, she headed to have a shower, but not before covering it with a towel. She didn't need to discover if it could snoop around.

Meanwhile, the Kamini brothers were each in their own suite, in a sumptuous apartment complex owned by their father. Cleaning service, non-stop reception, five stars restaurant next to the lobby, and a small dance hall seemed normal for this accommodation.

Kagetsu stood in front of a big wall mirror in his bedroom. He stared at his body, struggling to pose, unsure how to stand or what to think about himself.

"Who is the sweatiest of all—"

"What the—!" He yelled, crossing his arms, and growling at wide-eyed Aiyoku before his sibling burst to chuckle. "Not funny!" The youngest one grunted.

"But your face!" His older brother wiped a tear from his eye.

"Ever heard of knocking?" The dark-haired brother puffed his cheeks.

"Man, you act like a schoolgirl caught while changing," Aiyoku teased him, and Kagetsu turned his head away.

"Why are you here?" He walked aside from the mirror, sitting on the king-sized double bed.

Despite all the space, the youngest Kamini hardly had anything in this room except for clothes and school stuff.

"Just needed to have somebody to chat with. Rigaku is busy with chairman duties."

Kagetsu rolled his eyes. "That's him for sure. Working thrice as hard and ten times longer than the others."

They came to a mute understanding. Their oldest brother was way too hardworking. It was years since they had seen him smile, much less laugh. Even a quiet giggle seemed to be a crazy fantasy in his book.

"So?" Kagetsu gestured for him to go on, but the blonde remained silent for a few moments.

"She is puzzling, isn't she?"

He didn't need to mention her name. Freya had been on their minds, but not for romantic reasons.

"You tell me, but I don't get why Rigaku chose her." The youngest brother laid on the bed, staring at the beige ceiling.

"I bet he ran her through his logical mind, finding her suitable for our dispute."

"Mind reminding me why we have that pear again?"

"Because our Father will hand over the position of C.E.O. to the one who gets it."

Kagetsu frowned, puckering his lips. It wasn't something a man would do often. "Weird." With a swing, he sat up. "Don't you like need a brain for that? No matter how you look at it, Rigaku is the best, and not because he got out three minutes before you."

"I too find this whole deal suspicious. Perhaps Father has a different aim in his mind, and this is some kind of test?" Aiyoku crossed his arms.

"Beats me."

"Can't do, have delicate nails." The blond brother flashed his wide smile at his younger sibling, who remained silent for a few heartbeats before understanding the joke.

"You!" Kagetsu raised his fist, but with no intention of harming him.

Aiyoku jumped to his feet, heading out. "I presume there is no point questioning father's decision. We haven't been able to get close to her without getting barked at so far."

"I guess. 'Night."

"Good night." Aiyoku saw himself at the door.

Utter silence spread in the suite, disturbed only by a ticking wall clock. The youngest triplet stretched and checked the entrance, locking it so his brothers couldn't enter. Their cards could access the other's flats too unless it was closed from inside.

Seeing the entire hall in front of himself, he rolled his eyes. What was the point of an apartment for each other? Everything was so freaking huge. However, it had one undeniable advantage; privacy.

With a calmer mind, he entered his bedroom, taking out a sketchbook from his nightstand. A childish smile plastered across his face as he kept drawing.

Meanwhile, Aiyoku, in his room, too locked his door, browsing the internet on his phone. He chewed his thumb, frowning at the pictures of horses that didn't resemble the one he had glimpsed.

"Not helping," he muttered, closing the tab and starting a map app. He zoomed to his position, exploring the town screen by screen. Minutes turned into an hour, and when his mind begged for beauty sleep, he spotted a suspicious name.

"Horse Rescue Rangers," he whispered, forcing his sleepy brain into work mode.

On a piece of paper, he noted the address down, searching the rest of the city, but finding no other place. With this, he flopped onto the bed, falling almost instantly into the land of dreams. Only instead of sheep, he counted burning horses.

The last brother staying awake typed on his laptop, completing the recent outline of Academy Rules he was tasked with reviewing. He adjusted his glasses, finding this experiment of giving students a chance to adjust or expand it welcoming.

Of course, one had to be respected to accomplish this, and Rigaku already stood at the top of the school chain after a few short days. He took down his glasses, rubbing his teary eyes.

With an exhale, he went to the restroom to revive his face and mind. He still needed to read the latest papers. The library had a lot of books needing changing, repairing, or buying. The council members discussed adding audiobooks, but they haven't decided how to protect them from getting copied.

They tasked Rigaku with finding the solution. "Hardworking," the boy muttered, glaring at himself. "More like doing their duty, so they can party all night."

Just because he seemed to be deep in thoughts, didn't mean he stopped listening to his surroundings. He exited the bathroom and returned to his working table. Exactly like him, it had only the most needed essentials. Everything else only served as a distraction.

He opened the drawer, picking the right notebook, but his eyes landed on the one below it. Its cover bore signs of age, being damaged in places. A single spark of sadness flashed inside his brown eyes before he shut the drawer and submerged himself in the schoolwork.
