Chapter 14: The Yule Ball

Rosie was practically melting the floor as she paced back and forth in the girls dormitory in Gryffindor.

Hermione was sat in the corner happily curling her hair as she paid no attention to Rosie's panic.

Ginny, on the other hand, was sat down twiddling her thumbs as she had finished before the others.

Rosie stopped in her tracks as she heard someone knock on the dorm's door, she dismissed the other girls and opened up the door shyly.

At the door was Fred Weasley, her dates twin, and she furrowed her eyebrows at the guy who seems to despise her.

"Where's Ginny?" He asks her rudely.

Rosie rolled her eyes at his behaviour before turning around to Ginny, "Fred's here for you Ginny"

"Tell him I'll speak to him later, I'm helping Hermione do her hair" Ginny instructed her, and Rosie took notice of the curling iron in Ginny's hand.

She turned back to Fred, "she's busy right now, she said she'll talk to you later"

The brunette went to shut the door, only for him to panic and open up the door again.

"I need some..girl advice" he admitted sheepishly.

"This is about Kathy Woods, isn't it?" Rosie tilted her head to the side as she looked at him.

He seemed nervous, which was extremely rare to see on the prankster who always wore a smirk.

"Yeah..." he nodded along, "I want to know what to say when I see her"

"Well, compliment her. Can't go wrong there" she stated flatly, she went to shut to door again, but he stopped it again.

"Like, saying she's beautiful?"

"Say how you feel Fred, I can't know how you feel about her" Rosie explained simply, "compliment her and get to know the girl"

He nodded and turned away awkwardly before running down the stairs.

Rosie shut the door with a confused look scattered on her face, that had to be in top ten weirdest moments for her.

"Do we go one at a time, or...?" Ginny had whispered to the rest of the girls as they were peaking from the top of the stairs.

"I say together" Rosie admitted, she was too nervous to walk alone.

"Alright, lets go" Hermione confidently stated she walked towards the main stairs and stood at the top as people began to watch in awe.

Ginny tugged Rosie along so that they were next to Hermione, Ginny in the middle.

They all grinned over to each other and began to walk down the stairs as gracefully as they could.

Rosie looked out for her date and found him standing with his twin and Kathy Woods.

Rosie has to admit, Kathy looked extremely pretty, and she began to feel slightly self-conscious.

Until Ginny reached for her hand and squeezed it as they had finally reached the bottom of the stairs.

Hermione was greeted by Viktor Krum and the girls giggled as they waved her off.

Neville shyly walked you to Ginny and Rosie held up two thumbs up for good luck and watched them as they entered the great hall that had been done up for the ball.

Rosie turned to see George smiling goofily at her, which caused her to blush slightly as she had not noticed him standing there.

"Hi" she breathed out as her eyes met his warm brown ones.

"Hey" he greeted her back.

"Ro, dear" Miss McGonagal called Rosie over, the woman who was like the witches aunt.

George linked his arm with Rosie's, and led her over to where the rest of the champions were waiting with their dates.

Rosie and Hermione began to twirl in their dresses and giggled at each other before they were allowed in to start off the dance

McGonagal finally lined them up and let them into the ball, where everyone watched them intensely.

Rosie's grip on George's arm increased as she grew more nervous and he only smiled down at her to ease the tension in her body.

They finally reached the dance floor and turned to face their partners.

George silently asked permission from Rosie, to which she nodded at.

He wrapped one arm around her waist and gently held her other hand, whilst her hand slithered onto his shoulder.

She tilted her head to the side as if to ask him if he could properly dance and the music started.

Her eyes met his and she was filled with reassurance as he began to lead her through the dance, making her giggle every time he lifted her in the air.

The entire time she had forgotten about the others in the hall, as she was too involved in the depth of George's eyes.

Which she seemed to fall deep into.
