Chapter fourty-two - Fire

                                    

                                          
When Gabriel woke up he didn't see Sam next to him. Worried he sat up and looked around to find Raphael sitting on a chair in his room. "Raph? Where's Sam?"
                          
"He went to meet up with Crowley. He's trying to figure out how to fix this and Rowena apparently found a spell that might work. So, now he's looking for some ingredients."
                          
"Oh, but he has to sleep, too. It's late." Gabriel yawned and got up. "I'll go and bring him back so he can sleep." He wanted to spread his wings before he remembered he couldn't. "Right, I forgot about that. Could you maybe get him?" 
                          
"Sure, but are you okay?"
                          
"I think so. This is all really weird but I'll be okay. I mean I've got you guys so." He smiled and sat back down. "I just feel useless. I can't fight and I can't protect Sam. At this point I'm just a liability."
                          
Raphael sat down next to him. "Hey, you're not useless. Maybe you're not the best fighter but you're intelligent and if you want to you could train with Michael. He was a teacher for the young angels one. I bet he could show you a thing or two."
                          
"That sounds nice. I might ask him. Thanks."  He looked a bit better. "Could you get my boyfriend?"
                          
"Sure." Raphael ported away and not even a minute after he cam back with Sam.
                          
Sam went over to Gabriel worried. "Are you alright?!"
                          
"Yes, but you're not." The smallet one gave him a kiss and quickly thanked Raphael which made him leave th two alone. "You need to rest and sleep. Look, I appreciate you're effort in fixing my situation and keeping me safe. But you have to take care of yourself."
                          
"I'm fine-"
                          
"No, you're not you look like shit. Go to sleep, Sam." Gabriel pulled him towards the bed. "I won't take no for an answer." He grinned.
                          
Sam just smiled an took of his shoes. "Okay, okay." He lied down with him. Gabriel put his arms around him pulling him close. He slowly brushed through his hair humming softly. After a bit the hunter fell asleep.
                          
Gabriel stayed with him for a few hours. He just played with his hair and cuddled with him.
                          
Eventually he kissed him on the forehead and carefully got up. He wanted to make the other a snack for when he woke up. Being confidant in his cooking skills after having made one dish he got out his phone and searched for a recipe that looked good. Luckily they had the ingredients he needed.
                          
Gabriel started cooking. It was going okay jr so he thought because the next thing he knew was that the stove was catching on fire and it spreading like crazy. "Oh shit!" He panicked a bit moving backwards snapping his fingers to extinguish the fire. When he remembered it wouldn't work he started looking for something to do the job. This woke up Sam who took a moment to realize what was going on. When he did he jumped up and grabbed the other by the arm pulling him out of there. The whole room was starting to catch on fire and Gabriel was just standing there in the flames.
                          
When the hunter got him out of the room he turned to him grabbing him by the arms. "Are you ok?!"
                          
Gabriel just nodded still being in shock from everything that just happened. 
                          
"What happened?! What did you do?!" Sam was screaming at him. He was scared. He didn't even notice Michael walking past them to extinguish the fire.
                          
"I just wanted to make some food." 
                          
"You could've hurt yourself! Or worse died!" He shook the other a bit. "You're human! You got to think before you just do things. This is exactly why I can't leave you alone. You're like a little kid! Why are you like this?!"
                          
Sam didn't mean to scream at him but he was stressed and scared and everything was just too much.
                          
Gabriel just looked down. He wasn't used to the other raising his voice like that. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to start a fire. I just wanted to do something nice for you."
                          
The hunter hugged him holding him close. "I know, I'm sorry. I'm just scared about losing you. You're so vulnerable now and it scares me like crazy." 
                          
Gabriel expected to get scolded further. He didn't expect this. But it was nice he hadn't even noticed how scared he himself was until now. His heart was racing and being in the other's arms calmed him down. He also just noticed that he in fact got burned. His hands and forearms were slightly burned.
                          
Michael just got out from extinguishing everything. "Are you okay?"
                          
His brother turned his head to him still staying in his boyfriend's embrace. "Actually my hands really hurt. Could you, you know fix them?"
                          
The archangel just touched his shoulder and quickly healed him up. "What happened? Was it dad?"
                          
"No, I tried to cook something and everything went south. I'm sorry." 
                          
"You know what I'm gonna go to my room before I scream at you for being an idiot." He took a deep breath. "I'm just glad you're okay." With that Michael left.
                          
Sam still hadn't let go of the other holding him close. He couldn't really handle his loved ones getting hurt especially if fire was involved. Gabriel being human scared him more than everything. His life was dangerous and the fact that the other wasn't an archangel anymore terrified the living hell out of him. 
                          
"Samsquatch, are you alright? You're shaking." Gabriel looked up at him smiling softly. He moved one of his hands up and put it on the other's cheek. "Hey, everything is alright. I'm right here."
                          
"I know. It's just I feel like I'm endangering you. First the alternate universe and now the Chuck thing. I don't want to lose you. But maybe you should hide somewhere else with your brothers. The last thing I want is for you to get hurt."
                          
Gabriel just pulled him closer. "Look, you didn't let me push you away and I won't let you push me away. I'm not scared. I just want to stay by your sight." He gave him a kiss on the cheek. "I don't care about all the crap that dating you brings with it because I love you. Sure, I don't want to die. Who wants that? But I don't need to live forever I just need you."
                          
"I love you." Sam kissed him. "I'll love you for eternity."
