Five months had passed as the agents gathered around the cemetery on the outskirts of the Vampire Kingdom, a memorial for those who died during the battle.
After the battle, the agents went off for their winter break before classes resumed. The year continued as per usual, the agents working on their own missions from the agency.
Seri had left the Academy, much to Taeyong's discontent, as she was now the new ruler of Vampire Kingdom. Under her was Han Seojin, the new General of the Vampire Royal Guard.
Following the death of Sora, her mother had stepped down from the role of Witch Coven Leader, leaving on her own journey to find peace with her mind.
Jaehyun now had a new power to control, fire. He spent days in the training area, working with Taeyong to perfect his craft.
The students of the Academy had now finished their second term, the results of their exams now released. The were a few changes to the members of H.I.D.D.E.N.'s board members, but Jaemin and Rena had kept their places.
The memorial was now the only thing stopping the agents from their summer break. They gathered, wearing black to mourn those who were no longer there with them. Rena stood beside Jaemin as he held flowers for his father.
"He would be proud of you." Rena told Jaemin as he placed the flowers on his father's grave. He took a step back, letting his mother and sister have their opportunity.
"You know, he really liked you." Jaemin said turning to face Rena. Rena look down, trying to hide her smile. Jaemin walked towards her, giving her an embrace as he reached her.
"Sometimes, I wish I was a better son." Jaemin said as he held Rena. Rena softly patted him on the back.
"You were an amazing son, and you aways will be." Rena said to him. Jaemin rested his chin on her head, her touch comforting him.
One the other side of the field, Seri sat on a bench, Taeyong beside her.
"I wish you told me sooner." Taeyong said to the new queen. Seri played with her fingers in her lap, avoiding his eyes.
"I wanted you to focus on the battle." Seri responded. Taeyong looked into the distance.
"I guess this is it for us then?" Taeyong asked. Seri turned to look at the male beside her one more time before looking back down at her hands.
"I guess it is." Seri said. She felt Taeyong get up from beside her before walking away. Seri blinked back the tears threatening to fall out.
"I still love you, Lee Taeyong." She whispered to herself.
...
Jaehyun crouched down over the grave holding a letter in his hands. He had been accepted into Upper School and assigned as a Training Instructor at H.I.D.D.E.N. He placed the white envelope on the grave, beside the white roses.
"You got accepted too. Your letter came. I know you weren't going to accept anyways, but it came." Jaehyun said, wondering if she could hear him. He chuckled at the thought for a moment, realizing how silly it was.
"I miss you. Every day. It's not the same without you." Jaehyun continued. He sighed deeply looking up towards the sky. Storm clouds were gathering. He felt the wind blow, messing up his hair.
"I hope you're in a better place now, this world sucks." Jaehyun said, staring at Sora's grave. He felt a raindrop his his head. Soon another one fell and before he knew it, the rain was pouring around him.
Jaehyun was glad that the rain was there, covering up his tears as he softly cried, mourning the girl he had loved so dearly. He watched the letter soak, the ink bleeding through.
Suddenly, the rain seemed to have stopped hitting him although it was still pouring from the sky. Jaehyun looked behind him to see Johnny holding an umbrella above him. He stood up, wiping the water off his face.
"I know she thought you were attractive when your hair was wet but I don't think this is exactly what she meant." Johnny said with a small smile. Jaehyun let out a soft chuckle.
"I hate you sometimes." Jaehyun said as he followed his best friend.
"Let's go get some refreshments inside." Johnny said, guiding Jaehyun to the building behind them.
...
Jaemin and Rena sat on the edge of the cliff, watching the sunset.
"Do you remember this day five months ago?" Jaemin asked the girl beside her. Rena nodded.
"It was a weird mixture of peace and war." Rena told him, making Jaemin chuckle.
"I guess that's one way to put it." Jaemin said, leaning back. The two sat in comfortable silence as they watched the sky change colours.
"You wanted to tell me something that day." Rena said, breaking the silence. Jaemin turned to look at her.
"You remember?" Jaemin asked.
"You started it but you never finished." Rena pointed out. Jaemin smiled to himself, surprised that the girl remembered. He reached out, grabbing the girl's hand as he scooted closer to her.
"Can I finish it now?" Jaemin asked, turning her chin so that she faced him. Rena gasped at how close they were before giving Jaemin a soft smile, nodding.
"Choi Rena, will you be my girlfriend?" Jaemin asked. A grin spread across Rena's face at his words.
"Yes, I would love to." Rena replied. Jaemin smiled as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, connecting their lips. The kiss felt different from all the other times, sparked with passion and desire. The two giggled as they broke apart.
Rena rested her head on Jaemin's shoulder as the sun began to fade, darkness absorbing the sky.
"Took you long enough." Rena said to Jaemin as the watch sun disappear from the horizon.
