Sam came to class late. It was a period before lunch. She wasn't wearing any makeup, her eyes were puffy, and the only thing that was intact was her hair.

Lily greeted her and she just gave her a small smile and walked to her desk to lay her head down for the rest of the period.

Lily was worried about her. When lunch came around, most of the class decided to have lunch in the classroom because their next class would be Ms. Parker's.

As they sat down to eat, Lily opened her box lunch, which had cherries, grilled chicken, grape tomatoes, chocolate, and cheese.

"I found this on a website called Pinterest and I thought it looked cute, so I made it. It was quite easy to make."

"I want to talk to Brycen. Come with me, Lily," Sam whispered--so low that Lily did not hear a word she said.

Lily noticed that Sam didn't have lunch. Out of the kindness of her heart, she offered some of hers.

"Here, take some," Lily said.

"I don't want it!," Sam whispered. This time Lily could hear.

"Come on, you have to eat something."

After Lily said that, Sam roughly grabbed some of the food and started wolfing it down so fast that she started to cough. Lily leaned over for her to stop.

"Sam! Stop!"

"What? You told me to eat, right?" Sam sat down with food still in her hands and tears running down her face. "Lily, I want you to call Brycen for me. Not to try to get us back together. I just want to talk to him."

Lily can clearly see that Sam was hurting and nodded. "Okay, I'll go get him."

"Never mind, just forget it." Sam pushed Lily's food on the ground before she wobbled out of the room. Lily looked down at her food, clenching her fist. She then took a deep breath and started to clean it up.

Ava and Chole walked up to her.

"What's wrong with Sam?" Ava asked.

"Yeah, did something happen?" Chole added.

Lily responded with a smile. "It's nothing."

They don't know? I would have thought Sam would at least tell her coven. Am I the only one she trusts with this?

Lily wanted to go after Sam, but it was for the best not to. She needed her space.

Sam never came back for the rest of her classes. When Lily got to her dorm room, she went straight to her bed.

Someone knocked on the door and Lily slowly dragged her feet to reach it. When she opened the door, she was surprised to see Dante. He told her the Night House was throwing a party and asked if she wanted to go. She politely declined and told him she was tired.

Lily lied to Dante. She didn't want to be around people at a party, which was weird--she loved parties. Ever since she left home, her emotions had been all over the place. For her to mask the overwhelming emotions, she would just smile, even though sometimes it would hurt.

Lily didn't feel like herself. Of course she was caring--even her mother told her that her caring nature was one of the best things about her--but how she knew she hadn't been acting ike herself, especially around Sam. She was afraid to show her true colors because she didn't want people to look down on her or on any other demon.

While laying down, Lily closed her eyes and started to think about Sam wanting to kill herself. She thought that if she hadn't stopped her, Sam would have been sent to Hell and sentenced to the Suicide Forest, where she would either turn into one of the many trees or have her soul hung from one.
