*Kendell's POV* 
Man I broke my promise to Londyn and to Miyracle and that hurts but business is slow and hasn't been easy to open a new office in Chicago. 
"Roxie" I called 
"Yes Mr.Briggs" She came in my office 
"Have you heard from Mr.Durham" I asked 
"No sir I haven't" 
"Can you call him" I asked 
"Yes sir right on that" She walked back out 
Damn Londyn said she can't do us if I'm still back and forth. And I've been back and forth. Exactly what I said I wouldn't do. I made her feel comfortable about loving me and then just dipped. 
"Kendell my boy" Mr.Mayer walked in 
"Mayer your boy Durham is a flake" I sighed 
"He's just been busy" Mayer laughed 
"He's bullshitting around and I have no time for it" I used my CEO tone 
"Kendell calm down" Mayer frowned 
"I made a promise Mayer a promise to not be back and forth from Chicago to LA. I said I would be in Chicago with Londyn and where am I" I yelled 
"Everything okay in here boss" two men in suits walked in 
"I tried to keep them out of here" Roxie came in 
"Who are those men" I asked 
"Associates" Mayer smiled 
"Something suspicious is going on here" I raised an eyebrow 
"Ugh Boss Durham is dead" one of the men looked at his phone 
"Quiet don't discuss this in front of him" Mayer snapped 
"Explain" I yelled 
"Kendell calm down" Mayer put his hand on my shoulder 
"Explain" I pushed his hand off of me 
"Okay we're in a business. Not just the architect business but the illegal business and that's all I say but you aren't supposed to know any of this" he sighed 
"Who" I asked 
"Us" he pointed around the room 
"Roxie you too" I asked 
"Yes Roxie too" He cut her off before she answered  
"I can't be associated with that" I slumped back in my seat and rubbed my temples 
"Listen Kendell you are safe from all this. The family protects you as my protégée. You run the top business I run the underground and we leave it at that. You don't know much about this and you stay safe okay" He raised an eyebrow 
"The family protects me from what" I asked 
"Anything" He winked 
"Roxie cleans up" I looked at her putting two and two together 
"Don't worry we don't harm anyone we don't see as a threat" Roxie smiled 
"I want to go be with my family this is too much" I sighed
"Tomorrow you go back right" He asked 
"Yes but I'll probably have to come back to keep things running smoothly because your boy has dropped the fucking ball and now he's dead. What the actual fuck" I sighed 
 "With Durham dead I own his properties God rest his soul. You run his portion of the above ground business and you tell no one about this meeting." He raised an eyebrow
