Jai caught up to Ariana by the closed cafeteria doors, staring at the sign plastered on it that said the cafeteria was closed until six am. He glanced at her, unsure of what to do because her face was blank and didn't show any emotion whatsoever.

He hated it when he couldn't tell what she was thinking. She was like a ticking time bomb when he didn't know what was on her mind.

Jai gently placed his hand on her shoulder, speaking on in a very soothing tone. "Ari, are you okay?"

"Do I look okay?" Ariana sighed, turning around to look at him, her eyes red and puffy.

Jai slowly frowned and wrapped his arms tightly around her, making her melt into them, sniffling lightly.

"I'm sorry for getting mad at you," she mumbled into his shoulder, clutching onto his shirt. "it's not your fault."

Jai couldn't help but chuckle softly as he rubbed Ariana's back to comfort her, kissing her forehead. "Hey, don't be sorry. I would have blamed myself too. But I promise, he'll be fine. Plus, after his surgery, the kid's going to be spoiled rotten,"

Ariana laughed against his chest, looking up at him. "By me or you?"

"Probably both." Jai smiled at her, leaning down and pecking her lips before pausing for a moment. "Ari.. this is the first time we've been alone in days. And this is probably the only time I'll get to do this without being interrupted."

Ari pulled back from him with a raised eyebrow. "Jai, forget it."

He frowned at her, "What? Why?"

"I'm not going to have sex with you in a hospital. Haven't we learned our lesson?"

Jai gave her a startled look before bursting out in laughter. "You're joking, right? I wasn't going to ask you to sleep with me. Besides, I want our first time.." he paused for a moment, thinking of how to word this exactly. ".. our second first time, to be special. Not in a hospital." He smiled, rubbing her lower back. "I was going to ask you, will you be my girlfriend?"

Ariana stared up at him in confusion, raising her eyebrow. "Aren't I already?"

He chuckled, kissing her forehead again. "I suppose, but I never asked you. Not officially.. So uh.. will you?"

"Hmm. I suppose." Ariana teased, leaning up on the tip of her toes and placing a sweet kiss on his lips.

3am.

Sleep fogged Ariana's mind as she sat curled up in the seat by Brandon's bed as he slept. Jai sat beside her, practically half his body was off his chair, sound asleep. She on the other hand, refused to.

She blinked her heavy eyelids and sighed, pushing herself off her chair and groggily making her way into the hall, then into a waiting room and to a machine that sold coffee.

As Ariana waited by the machine as it dispensed her much needed pick me up, she heard a soft female voice singing down the hall. She picked up her now ready coffee and quickly added sugar and milk, which the hospital thankfully provided on a small table next to the machine before curiously following the voice, finding a woman standing by the huge floor to ceiling windows in the hallway, looking out onto the beauty of the Los Angeles skyline. She seemed to be holding a newborn in her arms, and was dressed in a hospital gown and robe, with slippers on her feet.

Ariana decided that she was a new mother and she smiled to herself softly, vaguely remembering that feeling of holding her son for the first time. She leaned against a wall and quietly listened to the mother's soft voice as she sang, smiling at the lyrics of the song.
