Chapter 29

'I am so tired!' I grumbled.
'Same.' Emily said with her face on the table. We were currently in the French classroom and waiting for the teacher to appear.
I hadn't wanted to come to school as the party had really exhausted me emotionally and physically as Emily and I had left late after getting drunk on coca cola! Well, I hadn't got drunk but Emily had definitely drank way too much sugar!
We both sat upright when Lucas entered. I tried to look everywhere but at the door with no success as he entered the room with Josh. Emily also avoided Josh's eyes as he looked directly at her. They had kissed last night and I wasn't sure if she had completely forgiven him for the rumour spreading.

Lucas sat down in the row in front of us and throughout the lesson I noticed he kept looking behind him at every chance he got, and even dropped his pen-I was sure it was not by accident-so he could spy on my conversation with Emily.
Emily and I talked quietly at how Chris hadn't turned up for school today and how he had obviously faked being ill to avoid me.
'He'll forgive you eventually, you know.' Emily reassured me.
'Lucas or Chris?' I was confused.
'Both, hopefully, although it's not really your fault that you're attracted to Chris.' She said loudly and Lucas shifted in his seat. I wasn't whether he had heard.
'Shh!' I whispered.
When the class had ended I was annoyed to learn that I had to go through my test with the teacher. I had to stay behind with Lucas, Chris, Sam, Rachel and Emily.
It was to say the least awkward. Very awkward.
'I need to fetch your sheets from my office so give me a moment.' Miss Smith said as she hurried quickly out of the classroom leaving me with that group of people. It was almost like he had made up that group of people to torture me. Lucas broke the uncomfortable silence.
'Sam, just asking now, why did you tell Rachel when we were DATING that you would kidnap her and ruin our RELATIONSHIP if I didn't say I was gay? Because that's pretty lame.' He laughed. Why would you break an awkward silence with that? It was the worst possible thing he could have said. I know he thought he was being clever by reminding me of his ex girlfriend who was right by me now and taunting me about it, but it didn't bother me at all. The thing that did bother me was that Sam had not said that and we were out of excuses.
'I never said that.' Sam said slowly, looking at Rachel weirdly.
'Yeah you did. Didn't he Rachel?' Lucas turned to her.
'Uh, yes.'

She was such a bad liar, and I mentally cringed waiting for the moment where our plan came spilling out. One thing would lead to another if the teacher didn't come back soon.

'I swear I would never spread rumours about you, Lucas.' Same looked deadly serious.
'You didn't hear me in the forest then?'

Lucas started to get that Sam had nothing to do with it.

'The fores... What?' Sam looked confused and I felt bad.
'Rachel, did you lie to me?' Lucas exclaimed.
'No!' Rachel said.
'Did you just set me up to humiliate me?' Lucas said through his teeth.
'That's not true! I didn't. It wasn't...' Rachel pleaded.
'I don't want to hear anymore. I don't know what you did with your friends but it wasn't funny...' He looked dangerously angry.
'Come on, chill out Lucas. It was probably just a stupid prank.' I reasoned with him.
'She did it just to humiliate me.' He said, calming down slightly.
'Well you humiliate me each day so you can talk!' I laughed.

He just stared at me in disbelief.

'I do not. Where is this freaking teacher? Has she just disappeared?' Lucas was annoyed.

He started to tap his foot.
Emily looked at him.
'Can you please stop?'
'Hmph.' That was his reply.
'You know what. I don't actually care to see what I got in my French test. I'm leaving.' He flung open the door as we all stared in awe at him.

I watched him wide-eyed. He was so going to get detention for not waiting.

'What's up with him?' Emily joked lightly as the door clicked shut softly, making a bigger impact on us than it would have been if it had been slammed.
About a minute later the teacher walked back in.
'Where did Mr Shanley go?' She looked around for Lucas.
'He left.' Sam said plainly as Josh shrugged. I didn't say anything.
'Is there anything wrong?'
'I really don't know anymore.' I told Miss Smith honestly.

Thank you all of the reads, votes and comments! I'm so happy to have finally reached 1000 reads!! :)
This came with inspiration from Emily for the beginning and I've decided I don't want the story to end quite yet, although there are only a limited amount of chapters left to write sadly
:(
Thanks for reading and I really appreciate votes and comments!!
