"you didn't answer me mark. why were you with him?" the driver asked.

"i already told you, taeyong. it was a coincidence. i didn't even know it was him." the passenger replied.

the two of them were driving back to their base. mark had gotten in a fight, and taeyong had decided to pick him up personally instead of sending someone else. and when he had seen who mark was with... let's say he wanted to kill the boy on the spot.

"i'm sure you don't realise what you did there, mark." taeyong angrily said.

mark ignored him.

"he is lee donghyuck. we are supposed to watch him from afar, meaning NO interaction with any of us. you understand?"

mark didn't bulge.

"so, tell me. why were you with him?"

"i didn't even know it was him." mark said not looking at taeyong.

taeyong stopped the car abruptly making mark hit his head on the dashboard. "tell me what happened."

"i was fighting. i got injured, and he showed up and decided to clean my bruises. that's all. noting more, nothing less." he groaned rubbing his head.

taeyong started the car again. "well, at least you're not in a too bad state."

"woah. thank you for actually worrying about me." mark scoffed.

the two boys remained silent for the whole ride.

"are you crazy hyuck?!" renjun screamed startling the whole cafeteria.

he was currently eating with his two boyfriends and donghyuck, and the last one had just told them about his adventures from the night prior.

"you could have been killed! i was sure it was better for you not to go back home at night." renjun continued.

"stop being overdramatic renjun. i'm here, and i have nothing." donghyuck munched on his food.

"he could have been in a gang, and perhaps now they're after you..." renjun added, not listening to the other.

jaemin put his hand on renjun's thigh, stopping renjun from agitating.

"calm down injun. i only helped the boy, nothing else. and i didn't tell him anything about me." donghyuck reassured his friend.

and, well, they forgot about that story and ate peacefully.

at the end of the day, they all met up again at the school gates. as it was friday, renjun and donghyuck were supposed to go to their taekwondo lessons at 7:00 pm, meaning they still had three hours to spend with jeno and jaemin. the four of them decided to spend their time at the arcade just in front of the sports club.

donghyuck and renjun quickly became best friends because they went to primary school together. but what united them even more was their sport: taekwondo. every friday, since when they were 10, renjun and donghyuck would meet up at their taekwondo lessons. not that it was their passion, it just allowed them to see each other out of school, in a place where they could let their emotions out.

why had they chosen taekwondo then? actually they didn't.

renjun's older brother was one of the best students of this club, so their parents had chosen to register renjun as well.

donghyuck hadn't had the choice. the women at the orphanage had brought him to the club one day, telling him that this would be his sport. he was a bit reluctant at first, but he soon found out that renjun was there as well, so he brushed that thought off.

and that's how the two boys ended up practicing a sport they didn't particularly enjoy, even 10 years after their first lesson.

when they finished the lesson, they both headed to renjun's house, where his mother had already prepared dinner. after having their shower and eating, they got to the bedroom to play video games. it was friday, meaning there was no school the day after, and meaning that they could spend the whole night playing as donghyuck would stay to sleep at his best friend's house.

as exciting as that sounded, they eventually got to bed, renjun falling in a deep slumber, and donghyuck struggling to find sleep. his mind was busy. busy with the thoughts of his parents. he knew they existed, they sent him money, and he also knows it is them who asked the women at the orphanage to send him to taekwondo. but why? why had they left him if they still existed? why would they send him money if they didn't want him? and why were they trying to get him a good life it they ruined it in the first place?

all those unanswered questions clouded donghyuck's mind. but in the end, he didn't care. he had no parents but he had a great life, he had a house, he had friends, he had enough money to live... so why was he bothering himself with those questions when he had already enough?

well, let's say this last question helped him finding sleep peacefully.
