There was no way. He was probably imagining it. There could be hundreds of other names which had 'Arth'. Right?
Arthit wanted to dismiss it. His mind telling him, this wasn't reasonable. How could Kong bear a child? And how could Arthit of all people be the father of the child? He looked at Thara once again. The resemblance with Kong was clear. But what about Arthit? He remembered how Thara loved pink milk and spicy food. The facial features were a mix. The wildest thought in his mind was, Kong and Kristina, because Kristina looked a lot like Arthit. They were twins after all. But that was impossible. More impossible than Arthit being the father.
He took his leave, not wanting Kong to see them together. All his mind could think of what the possibility of Kong bearing a child. He had to do some research before coming to conclusions. He refused to believe it until he had proof. He couldn't believe a 5 year old, now a 6 year old. He needed to see it with his own eyes.
He paced about in his study, thinking of ways to find the truth. He googled it first, checking if any case of male pregnancy had veen reported around 7 years ago. Even while searching, his mind was telling him it was impossible. And indeed, he didn't find any such records. So if there was such a case, it was either well hidden or not that big of a deal to be noticed and brought out. But it was a big deal. To him.
He searched through the internet for conditions where a male could bear a child. He came upon a few articles, stating it was a genetic condition where a man was born with both male and female organs. That potentially meant he could get pregnant. But it would be a very risky thing to do, as male bodies can't support the foetus. He found a reference to the doctor who had written the article. He lived in the same city. Arthit decided to meet him. The man was supposedly busy for the coming two days. Arthit had no choice but to wait.
He was busy with his work when he saw Thara roaming around in front of his office. He decided to speak to her and got her in his office. This was the first time Thara had actually seen Arthit's office. She looked at the furniture in awe.
"Your office is bigger than daddy's" She said, still looking around. Her eyes were now on a showpiece which had two dolphins. It was however made of glass, so she just looked at it from far.
"Is it?" Arthit said smiling.
"Sit down, Sunshine." Arthit sat on his own office chair, and gestured to the chair in front of him.
"No. I'm not supposed to be here." She said, thinking of Kong.
"And what if I get you pink milk?" Arthit asked.
There was a visible conflict on Thara's face. How could she say no to pink milk? She thought maybe her mommy wouldn't mind, just this once.
"Fine." She pouted and crossed her arms on her chest, as she sat on the chair. Her feet were hanging in the air , barely past the sitting portion.
Arthit quickly asked one of the peons to get some pink milk for Thara. The pout was replaced by a smile, and her eyes showed a glint of excitement. They talked for a while. It was mostly Thara babbling about how one of her dolls wasn't considerate to the other one. The pink milk arrived in a few minutes, but Arthit didn't give it to Thara yet. He needed some answers first.
"I'll give you the pink milk, but you have to answer one question before that. Okay?"
Thara simply nodded, tapping her feet under the table, impatiently.
"How did you find out that you have 2 dads?" Arthit asked, trying to make it simple, so Thara could comprehend. She thought for a while with her index finger on her chin, head tilted to the side.
"I heard mommy talk about it, with Uncle Aim and Aunt May." There, she called Kong 'mommy' again. So Kong was talking about it with Aim and May?
"They were telling him to not love my other dad. He left us, and I hate him." She said with slight anger in her voice. Even at such a small age, she understood everything. "They said, dad doesn't love mommy. Dad shouldn't know about me." Thara completed.
