She wakes up the next morning and softly gets out of bed trying not to wake her son up. She wears some jeans and a tank top and goes downstairs, hoping to find her husband on his studio.
She couldn't sleep last night, she couldn't stop thinking about them and how she felt everything was just falling apart. She wanted her husband back.
Of course they've always been busy people, traveling the world and touring didn't leave much time for them. But they have always enjoyed their little moments, loving and caring for each other. But now it was just gone.
She felt he didn't search time to be with her anymore, but the truth was she wasn't doing it much either. She felt guilty, and stopped being that mad at him.
She pours two mugs of coffee and walks to his studio, opening the door with her elbow, she enters breathing deeply, swallowing her pride and her reasons to be upset, because she loved him and wanted to make peace, but her husband wasn't there.
"I'm an idiot" she mutters considering to leave, but her body is moving the other way. She walks to his desk and sits on his chair. She drinks her coffee, but her eyes can't look away from their picture staring at her.
They looked so happy, his hand possessively around her waist, her forehead against his, their eyes locked. It was just a year ago, and yet it felt like an eternity.
She's so frustrated with no being able to take some time off, she searches between his papers, afraid to find another contract making them stay there longer.
But a big envelope with a law firm logo on it calls her attention. They're not their lawyers, they've never worked with them before. She knows she shouldn't but she opens it anyway, and she almost drops her mug of coffee.
Paperwork signed by her husband disposing of his assets. The cars, Jupiter island home, his actions of Productions Feelings. For his children, even for RC. What was that? He was leaving her!?
She puts everything back to place and leaves his studio shaking. She sits in the couch staring at the pictures on the wall, it's never been harder. They were full of happy memories, and everything was vanishing now.
She picks up the phone and calls him, she's upset, hell she is and she's sure nothing productive will come out of that call.
On the other side he's at Caesars, he just won at poker, and his cellphone started ringing. But her number on his screen doesn't cheer him up. She will be upset because he's at the casino that early, she won't be happy he just won half million dollars. She doesn't get happy with those things anymore.
So he just lets the phone keep ringing as he walks to their suite. They've lived there as their house was being renovated but now it was useful when they were tired. Specially now he was almost avoiding being home.
She hangs down the phone even more upset than before, but she has a son to take care of. She enters the kitchen and finds RC having breakfast with Manon.
"Tout etre correct?" Her sister asks and she just shakes her head from side to side. "I think he's leaving me" she says once her child is running some meters away.
"Nooo" her sister hugs her. "There's no way" Manon rubs her back. "Why not? He doesn't love me anymore, you've seen it" she says shrugging her shoulders, saying it out loud is harder than she imagined.
"What I've seen is two people that still love each other, having a hard time to talk and share some time together. You'll fix this" she says but she's not so sure.
Her sisters words resonate in her head as she heads to the Collosseum to give another show, she's not sure if she wants to face her husband right now. They won't have time to speak properly, it could take hours.
But luckily for her, he's at a meeting. Something that would have made her feel proud some years ago, but now it was just frustrating her more.
She finishes the show and finally meets him backstage. "You didn't joke much" he says. "Well I'm a singer not a comedian" she says changing her clothes, he doesn't even stare at her. How is that even possible? He would have taken her in her make up table some months ago.
"You didn't call me back" she says taking her purse. "I was winning 500 grands" he says with a smile. "At noon?" She asks and he was right, she's not proud of him anymore.
"Are you coming with me or not?" She asks from the door. "Last meeting, I'll go in an hour" he says and she walks away without even saying goodbye. Meeting at 10pm? She wasn't that stupid, but she wouldn't make a scene right there. He arrives home tiptoeing to not wake her up and enters their room, finding their child sleeping next to her. He turns around frustrated, third night in a row.
Next morning she wakes up and he's gone, again, according to the maid he had coffee really early and left to a meeting. She could imagine that meeting, with green tables and poker chips.
She doesn't even try calling him that morning, and he doesn't call either. What would they talk about anyway? Him sleeping with some hooker? That RC tummy hurt? About work again?
She finishes the show and this time she doesn't even ask him if he's coming back, she heads home and has dinner with RC, some macaroni and cheese, his favorite at the moment.
"Mama, can I sleep with you?" He asks as she takes him upstairs. "No mon amour, you have your room and papa has to sleep in his room" she says tickling his stomach. "He's not here" he says and it breaks her heart to know how much the kid actually realizes.
"We can read a book and then you'll sleep on your bed" she says, but they fell asleep almost immediately.
She wakes up in the middle of the night, she doesn't remember her dream clearly but she knew Rene and her were in some mountain staring the sunset. She smiles, even though it wasn't real.
She grabs her satin rob and takes off her flannel pjs, decided to mend things with her husband she walks to the other room. "Rene" she whispers, almost untying her robe, she wanted to seduce him, although he had said they couldn't solve things just by having sex she knew it worked for them. But as soon as she opens the door she realizes her husband isn't there.
She goes downstairs but he isn't in the studio neither. She checks the clock on his desk, almost three in the morning. She grabbed their picture together and threw it to the floor.
She felt like a fool, she knew they were now lost in the dark.
