Veronica's POV
I once again woke up alone in the same room as last Friday. I smiled and got up. I walked out and saw Jughead still sleeping in the couch. I smiled and slowly walked over to him. I lightly kissed him. I slowly pulled away and he smiled tiredly. I smiled back at him.
"You're up." He mumbled. I nodded.
"You're still asleep." I said and he chuckled. "And you brought me back to the room again. I appreciate it." I told him.
"Intrusive. I remember that." He said.
"What a gentleman. You're really sweet, Jug." I said, he smiled and sat up.
"I know," he said and he pulled me next to him. He wrapped his arm around me and I cuddled closer to him. "I'll always be thinking about you." I looked at him.
"You don't always need to be thinking about me. You've got your own life, too." I said. He shrugged.
"It's not much if a life. At least, it wasn't. That was until you came into my life." He said making me blush.
"Shut up!" I said and he chuckled. It became quiet. But it was a comfortable kind of quiet. We were just enjoying each others company. I don't know how long we stayed like this, but I eventually started to slowly fall asleep again. Then, my phone started ringing which woke me up. I sighed and he chuckled.
"You falling asleep again?" He asked. I shrugged and stood up.
"Well, I'm still waking up." I said and grabbed my phone. It was Toni. I sighed and put it back down, ignoring her.
"You not gonna answer it?" He asked. I shook my head, walking back over to him.
"I don't really care. I lied to her. I said I would go over for a little bit last night. I knew I would asleep here again." I told him.
"You do know you could leave if you get tired, right?" He asked. I shrugged and sat back next to him.
"I don't care. Besides, I love waking up and having your face be the fifth thing I see." I said with a small laugh. He rolled his eyes and mumbled something under his breath and I didn't here it. "What was that?" I asked. He quickly looked back at me.
"What? Nothing." He said. I looked at him with disbelief.
"What did you say?" I asked. He shook his head.
"I didn't say anything." He said. I sighed.
"Why won't you tell me?" I akse him.
"Tell you what?" He asked.
"This is really gonna eat at me all day." I told him. He just chuckled.
"What is? I have no clue what you're talking about." He said, knowing exactly what I'm talking about. I can tell.
"Juggie! Tell me. What did you say?" I asked him. He just shook his head and kissed me. I kissed back for a second, but pulled away.
"No." I said looking away from him.
"What?" He asked.
"You're not getting another kiss until you tell me what you said." I told him.
"You really aren't gonna met this go, are you?" He asked and I shrugged.
"Just tell me." I said.
"Tell you what?" He said with a smirk on his face. I rolled my eyes, stood up and grabbed my phone. I quickly called Toni back. She answered. I put it on speaker so Jughead could hear her.
"Why didn't you answer before?" She immediately asked.
"Hi, Tonil! I was asleep. What did you need?" I asked and looked at Jughead. He had a smike on his face. Why won't he just tell me what he said? What did he say?
"I was, once again, wondering why you didn't come over like you said you were." She said. "Where are you?"
"I got busy and I couldn't come. I'm sorry. I can come over later if you'd like." I told her.
"No, but I would really like for you to tell me the truth. I won't tell Cheryl, I swear." She said.
"Okay, what?" I asked.
"Are your parents back? And don't lie to me!" I saw the expression on Jughead's face change. "I want to make sure you're safe and not staying in the same house as them. Please, Veronica, tell me the truth."
"No, Toni, they're not. I gotta go." I said and quickly hung up. Jughead stood up. I shook my head.
"What did she mean by--" I cut him off.
"Nothing. Nothing, but I gotta go." I said, walking over to kiss and giving him a quick kiss before leaving. He stopped me at the door.
"Are you sure?" He asked, worriedly. "What is this about your parents?"
"Yes, I'm sure, Juggie." I lied. "It's nothing. Don't listen to her. She's just saying things. I have to go now." And I quickly left. Even after he called my name. He doesn't need to know anything.
Jughead's POV
"Are your parents back?" Her friend asked. This quickly caught my attention. Her parents? Isn't she living with them already? And what does she mean by back? I don't know why, but everything about this conversation made me worried for her.
She quickly hung up and tried to leave, but. I stopepd her. I wanted to know what her friend meant by that. But she didn't tell me anything. She kept saying it was nothing and that it was fine. I don't believe her, but I don't w as nt to push her.
I spent the rest of the day worrying. Worrying about Veronica. I wish I knew what her friend was talking about. Why won't she tell me? What's happened with her parents?
