Kongpob.

He was right in front of Arthit's eyes. Merely a metre away, and Arthit couldn't believe it. The man whom he had been thinking about for 7 years, the man he never hoped to see again. The reason for his restlessness. Was in front of him.

Phana spotted him, and gave a surprised expression. Arthit's eyes were still fixed on the figure beside Pha. Pha excused himself, and quickly dragged Arthit out of the store. Arthit was still in a daze. It was only after they both were out of the store, that he snapped back to reality.

"Arthit, what are you doing here?" Pha asked shocked.

"I came to buy a suit." Arthit said, still looking inside, in Kong's direction, but he wasn't visible. Pha continued to speak, but it all went over Arthit's head. His mind was too occupied.

"Do you like him?" Arthit barely heard the last part Pha said.

"I love him." Arthit murmured, still not completely in his senses. He soon realised what he just said and shook his head.

"Arthit, stop zoning out." Pha said.

"Tell me, P'Pha. The man inside, what's his name?" Arthit asked just to confirm. He still couldn't believe it, and thought he was probably hallucinating.

"Kongpob."

Arthit's eyes widened. So he wasn't imagining it, Kong was indeed inside. He had just seen Kong after 7 years. And he was looking gorgeous. He saw Kong turn, searching for Pha. Arthit didn't want to be seen, so he quickly hid his face.

"I need to go, I'll see you later." Arthit said to Pha with a hand still covering his face.

He practically ran out of the area, his mind racing. This couldn't be possible. What was Kong doing in the US? He was supposed to be in Thailand. The memories from years ago, made Arthit's head spin. The pent up emotions, feelings he could never bring out, yearning to come out. A part of him wanted to just go back to Kong, and apologise, the other wanted to hide, far far away from his sight.

It clicked him, Pha had mentioned he had a daughter, about 6. His heart clenched at the thought of Kong having a daughter with someone else. How he wished Kong could be his. To forget everything and come back. But it was too late now. He had hurt Kong a lot. Kong didn't deserve someone like him, he deserved better. Maybe someone like P'Pha.

Phana had said, he was probably divorced. Arthit couldn't help but be jealous. For years, he only dreamt of Kong, thought of him, thought of giving him everything. His heart wanted Kong, but couldn't have him. Kong was responsible for his parents' death. But somehow, even though Arthit knew this, he couldn't stop his feelings for Kong.

The next day, at the hospital too, Arthit couldn't stop thinking about Kong. He didn't notice little Thara coming his way. He was too out of it. Even his co workers had noticed the visible tension on his face. Thara stood there, in front of him, but he was lost in his own thoughts.

She let out a fake cough with 'mhm-mhm', while putting her fist in front of her face. Arthit finally noticed the girl standing. They were currently in the eating area, and it was lunch time. Unlike her earlier welcomes, this time Thara have a bright smile to Arthit, putting her hands behind her back and swaying.

Arthit smiled too, slight taken aback by the sudden change in the girl's behaviour. This time, he wasn't that surprised on seeing her. He had gotten used to the fact that they kept bumping into each other. Call it fate, but he did enjoy the meetings.

"Hello, sunshine." He tried to sound cheerful, but couldn't.

"Hey, Mr. Sun." She said happily, almost jumping.

"How's your wound now? How's pluto?" Arthit asked, as he recollected their previous meet.

"It hurts a little. But I'm a big girl now. I didn't cry at all!" She beamed.

"That's great, sunshine. But what are you doing here?" Arthit asked curiously.

"I came with daddy. I come here a lot. I love hospital, and I'm going to become a doctor like daddy when I grow up." She said excitedly, her eyes lighting up.

So sunshine's dad worked at Arthit's hospital. He hoped to meet him someday. He hoped to meet Kong someday too. Maybe apologise. His thoughts were so conflicted about Kong. He knew they both had caused nothing but hurt to each other. He couldn't forgive Kong for what Kong had done. Nor could he forgive himself for what he had done to Kong. It was already a lost battle.

"Mr. Sun? You seem sad." Thara pouted.

"Is it that obvious?" He asked, scratching his neck. Thara nodded, her hair bouncing with her head.

"Actually, the person I loved most is now married and even has a child." Arthit said, his voice filled with regret and sadness. If only I could get him back.

"Why?" She frowned.

"I made some mistakes." He said with guilt.

"Oh! Don't be sad. I will help you." She said, with determination, placing her soft small hand on Arthit's bigger one.

"You will help me?" Arthit asked surprised. The touch warmed his heart.

"Yes, Mr. Sun. You are my friend now, and I help my friends. I will help you say sorry. My daddy says, apologising for your mistake is the best." She said proudly. Arthit felt his heart flutter a little, at being given the title of a friend.

"But..." She said, raising a finger.

"I will ask for something in return." Her tone was formal.

"And what is that?" Arthit raised an eyebrow.

"You will have to give me pink milk, every time we meet." She said grinning. Arthit chuckled. Such a small price for helping? He could use some help.

"You like pink milk too?" Arthit asked intrigued.

"I love it."

"Then I think we'll get along well, sunshine." He gently ruffled her hair, and she laughed.

If only he had a chance with Kong. If only things weren't as twisted.

..........
