The rain poured heavily as their feet slapped the ground.
Finally they made it to the house."Mommy, why are we here?", the little girl asked.
Her mother remained silent as they moved to the door of the house. She knocked once.
Twice.
Thrice.
Finally the door was opened, a woman came out and looked at her mother, then at her.
She hugged the bag she was carrying tighter to her little chest."Did anyone see you?", the woman asked.
"No one"
"Very well then. How old is the girl?"
"Seven"
She looked at them as they exchanged words. She didn't like what she was hearing. Something told her to run away but something else told her to stay. Her emotions began meddle in as her different thoughts began to fight for superiority soon she zoned out of whatever they were saying.
"Go", she suddenly heard the strange woman say.
"No!"
She held her mother's dress as she began to feel her presence tear away from her.
Her mother bent down to her height.
"Stay, I'll be back"
But she didn't let go, she hung on tighter and began to cry. The woman hissed.
"Dimwit", she said under her breath and dragged her away from her mother.
Her cries increased as she tried to fight her off but the grip was too strong. Her mother didn't do anything, didn't try to drag her away from the woman, didn't protest, didn't reach out, nothing.
"Stay, be a good child. I'll be back. I promise", she said instead and began walking away.
She began to throw a tantrum and tried jumping out of the woman's hands but she couldn't. Eventually she bit the woman and felt her bum hit the hard floor while the woman shrieked in pain holding her hand.
"You witch", she hissed.
She tried running to catch up with her mother but as she ran deeper into the cold rainy night, she couldn't find her.
Then she felt her body being dragged away.
"You had better behave, I have zero tolerance for stubborn children like you", she heard the woman say as she dragged her into the house.
She had waited days after that.
Weeks.
Months.
Years.
But she never came back.
