Bad Decision

Jorge stared at the plane ticket in his hand in dread as he stood in front of Sonya's door. He had not had a decent conversation with her since he went to confront her about MJ and Logan. They sorted things out that night, followed by a love-making session, after which Jorge snuck out of the hotel, and then from there on, he ignored her calls and texts.

Sonya wanted to know where they stood because she would not spend all her life waiting for him to make a decision about where their relationship was going after the whole MJ saga.

MJ was his sister, and Sonya was the love of his life; but despite everything that happened, he needed them both in his life. He loved them both and hoped for them to fix whatever tension was brewing between the two of them, but he knew that it was near impossible; MJ had no friends, and even if she did, they were most likely going to walk out of her life.

But Sonya would never walk out of their lives; she would never walk out of his life. She loved him, and he knew she cared about his sister and mostly, family. She loved family because she never really had one of her own; the only person she had close to family was her grandmother.

He reached into his pocket and gripped the box inside, closing his eyes to draw in enough breaths to keep him strong in there. He breathed out sharply and let go of the box before fixing his casual clothes. He lifted his fist and knocked on the door, and within a second, it flew open, revealing Sonya who looked like she had not slept in days.

She held the door with wide eyes before she composed herself and cleared her throat. "Oh, it's you." She said as she walked back inside, leaving the rest to him.

Jorge entered and closed the door, and then cringed at the mess in the sitting room. There were used toilet papers everywhere and a few dirty dishes on the coffee table while the sink overflowed with more dishes.

"Sorry about the mess, I wasn't expecting anyone." She said sarcastically with her arms folded.

Jorge nodded although her words were dry. "Are you okay?" He asked, referring to her swollen eyes.

"Couldn't have been better." She muttered.

Jorge sighed. "Sonya, be serious for once. What is the matter?" He asked softly, and Sonya broke down into broken sobs, and he engulfed her in a comforting hug. "Come on, don't cry. I hate seeing you cry, my love." He said.

"I just want to die!" She muffled into his chest, and Jorge rolled his eyes. Being dramatic as usual. "I don't have anyone, I'm all alone. I don't even have a job."

"That is not true, you have me, Lola, MJ, and your gran-" He broke off and pulled away from her. "Wait, what do you mean you don't have a job?" He asked.

"MJ and Logan plotted to get me fired, and they have succeeded." She wiped away her tears with her sleeve and then started clearing the table.

Jorge opened his mouth to ask why when it all clicked into place. MJ probably did it to get back at the both of them after the fight they had when he found out they were lying to Logan. As for Logan - as if reading his thoughts, Sonya spoke up; "Logan found out about MJ."

Jorge frowned. "I don't understand, when-"

"When he came looking for her at my place the other day, he already knew who she was. He said he was looking for MJ." Jorge watched her as she moved up and down, cleaning up. "I don't know, Jorge, but Logan is very vengeful; something tells me this is not the end of it, pretty soon he's going to make sure that no one ever hires me."

"I know." He sighed as he sat down.

"What is it? You look worried." She stopped what she was doing and knelt down in front of him. "Are you worried about your friendship?" She asked.

"Logan has anger issues, and can get really violent when you mess with him. He would have beaten me to a pulp the moment he found out I lied to him, but he's been acting fine towards me; which is strange." He groaned, burying his face in his hands. "I don't know, babe. But you are right, this is not the end of it." He grabbed her hands and kissed them. "Which is why you need to get out of here." He muttered, peeking at her with one eye open. "I think it is best that you go to your grandmother in New Zealand."

Sonya pulled her hands out of his hold as if his touch burnt. "I knew it, I knew it!" She got up and paced around the table. "Now you are trying to get rid of me too."

Jorge scoffed. "Now you are being ridiculous. I risked losing my sister for you after you bluntly lied to me in Durban." Sonya froze, and Jorge shook his head in disappointment. "I don't know what is going on between you and MJ, but I know you are both hiding something from me. Not to mention that you still haven't told me what you were doing in Durban."

"Jorge-"

Jorge held up his hand and stood up. "Don't say anything unless you are going to tell me the truth." Sonya instantly closed her mouth and looked anywhere but at him. "You wanted to know where I stood with our relationship," he said, reaching into his pocket. He took out an envelope and a ring box, and slammed them on the table. Sonya jumped back at stared at the box in shock. "Go to New Zealand, Sonya, and think hard about where you stand; because clearly you still have some unresolved issues." He said and then walked out of the room before Sonya could say anything.
