Minutes became hours.

Hours become days.

Days became a week.

But every day was the same. She would sit in the cell before being dragged into the doctor's office and experimented on before being sent back and taking another victor away. On occasion, they would pull Peeta away and have him say a forced script to the rebels, but nothing out of the ordinary would happen other than that.

Adrienne looked terrible. She had bruises, cuts, scabs and scars covering her body, most of them still bringing her pain. Her head constantly hurt and her cheeks had sunken in slightly due to lack of nutrition; she had lost at least fifteen pounds, she was sure. And already being thin as it is, she was practically hollow.

As the blonde girl peeled open her eyes, she looked around, seeing that, for once, everyone was in their cages. This is probably due to the fact that Snow wasn't very pleased with them.

Just hours ago, Peeta had given a warning to Katniss at District Thirteen, telling them about a surprise bombing the president had been planning for a while. This just made him angry and he forced everyone back into their cages without the scraps he called dinner.

She looked to her brother's fiancé next, seeing the red haired girl curled up into a ball on the floor of her cage, holding her arms to her chest as she slept. Adrienne couldn't help but envy how the girl looked so calm and peaceful as she slept. She had been the lucky one out of all of them; she hadn't gotten the worst of it.

Her eyes flickered over to Johanna, who was sulking in the corner of her cage, her head leaning back against the bars as she attempted to sleep.

"Jo?" The District Four victor spoke up, hoping her voice had enough energy to be heard by her friend. "You awake?"

The girl sighed, lifting her head. "Sadly. What's up?"

"What do you think they're gonna do you him?" Adrienne's eyes went over to the blonde baker's boy, who was fast asleep in his own cell.

Johanna shrugged with another sigh. "I'm not sure. Something much worse than death, I assume."

There was a long silence between them as they two girls thought, the blonde being the first to speak.

"We're not getting out of here are we?" She asked, her voice breaking at the thought. The thought of not seeing her brothers again. Her home. Her Finnick.

When Johanna didn't reply right away, Adrienne turned and looked at her, seeing the always tough girl looking down at the floor.

"I don't know, Addy." She said, lifting her eyes to meet the blue-grey ones of her friend. As she did so, Adrienne could see something in them that she has never seen before. "I really don't know."

She saw defeat.

She saw defeat
