The house was silent as everyone watched Bonnie and Bella, they were on the large couch. "Your cold," Bella whispered yet she moved closer to her godmother. Bella was sitting on Bonnie's lap as she tried to curl herself against her. Bonnie chuckled a little, "well, darling it's because I'm dead." Bella rolls her eyes but didn't comment as Bonnie continued to run her fingers through her hair.

"Can you tell me a story about you and James when you were little?" Bella asked after a while. Bonnie tensed and stopped her hand midway, her eyes stared into the opened as her mind went back in time. Noticing that her godmother stopped, Bella looked up and saw her blank expression. "B-Bonnie?" Bella gently asked.

Bonnie quickly recovered, she looked down at Bella with a pained smile. "You don't have too," Bella said frowning. Bonnie brushed back a piece of Bella's hair behind her ear. "My brother was an asshole since he was little, my dear Bells. Before he was turned, he was capable of being sweet. It was 1798, James just turned 18 and I was 12. The French Revolution was happening," as Bonnie spoke, everyone was paying attention to her. They all knew that this was a rare movement when Bonnie was willingly to speak of her past, something they knew that she wasn't going to do anytime soon.

"James moved us to North Carolina were we were going to take refuge. They were going to take him to war but James didn't go because he didn't want to leave me behind, so he moved us. It was a long journey but it was worth it," Bonnie closed her eyes as if she was remembering that day. A light smile appeared on her face and then she laughed. "Half way," she laughed again and shook her head. "Halfway, James' horse died and we had to walk 30 miles to the nearest town.... well more like James had to carry me for 30 miles while I complained that I was hungry and cold. And not once did he yell at me to shut up or anything. He kept walking until his legs couldn't carry on, no matter if I told him I could walk. His respone was something I would never forget."

Bonnie paused for a second before looking at Bella and she could see how painful it was remembering her brother. "He told me that it was his job to make sure that I was never in any pain." Suddenly Bonnie chocked back a sob and her eyes began to tear up, "he... James was always an asshole. He hurt and killed a lot of people, bells but to me he was everything. He was my big brother. My protector. My mentor. My reason to live. He was and will always be my brother. He taught me how the real world works." Bonnies eyes went to Carlisle and she spoke in a soft voice. The words that came out of her mouth squeezed his cold heart, it was as if she was telling him that she would never be his no matter what they were. "Happily everafters are just fairytales. They don't exist."
