"Girl, you know I was about to before you came in here." He joked, rubbing his head. "I think I'll be in the other room, it's nice seeing you're okay."

You hadn't realized Leo had been staring holes into the youngest the whole time you talked to him, but you did notice how Mikey scurried from the room. That too, was weird. Had you done something? I mean, other than getting hurt.

"Are you guys okay?"

"Y/n, sweetheart, we need to talk."

"Are you breaking up with me?" You quizzed. Your nervous smile began to twitch and you tried to erase it with a swipe of your hand as you stood. Doing so, you swayed, but then avoided Leo's arms reaching out to steady you. "Because I can go home and heal and then I'll be as good as new. I don't have to be hobbling around here like a drunk squirrel, I just wanted to be sure you guys were alright."

"That's not what-"

"Leo, it's totally okay- I know you guys are teenagers so you're super hormonal and all but-"

"Y/n." Leo cut you off and grabbed your hands with his, shushing you. "One: You're a teenager. Two: Calm down a little, I'm not breaking up with you."

"Okay." I nodded and took a breath.

"We just need to talk."

"About what? Oh, about my new scar? Isn't it cool looking? Now we have matching scars!" You pointed to a random one on his body and smiled, watching as his lips also quirked up.

"God, I missed you." His arms crept around you and pulled you close, just simply enjoying your presence. "I know you're still hurting. While you were gone, April kept track of all your medications and appointments and whatnot. She helped me find some ways to help you in your recovery."

It had been a couple days since that talk. Most of your time was spent in the lair with the guys.

You played games with Mikey and decided to even bother Donnie. He allowed you to make a small, very controlled explosion since you said it would make you feel better. You spoke with Splinter and told him some jokes, beaming every time he chuckled. You could see why Mikey liked it so much.

You stayed with Leo a lot. When he was in a room, you more than likely were as well. While he meditates, you sat against the tree and did whatever it was you were doing. Art, writing, reading, solitaire, anything you could think of to keep your mind busy. One time in particular you simply rolled a marble on the floor. That lasted a couple hours at least.

One thing you definitely noticed: Raph avoided you like the plague.

Actually, allow me to rephrase that: he stayed in his room or in the dojo, either room you weren't in. When Mikey tugged you to his room to help find a cool game to play, and Raph happened to be reading comics on his bed, the red masked turtle stood up and left the room.

Right now, Leo had just left the room for some water, having offered to come back with some for you as well. You stretched against the tree and winced as the stitches in your side tugged yet again. With your eyes closed, you missed the bulky figure that wondered into the room.

Maybe that's why you jumped so bad when someone cleared their throat.

Looking up at him, he seemed more intimidating than before. Maybe it's because you hadn't been around him for a while, but he looked bigger.

"Hey big red, what's up? Leo just went to the kitchen, you missed him."

Raph tapped his hands against his sides and sighed, his eyes watching me before settling on something else in the room. "Actually, I came ta talk to ya."

"Me? And who blessed me with the holy interactions that you provide?" You faked an accent to try and make him smile. It would take it less tense in here, you decided. For a moment, it had worked. Raph's smile had appeared, but only for a second before it went away again. However, when he saw your displeased expression, he gave a fake smile the best that he could, just for you.

Raph felt bad. He had since you took the hit for him- stab mostly- but you'd got hit pretty hard as well. He was feeling guilty. Guilt was pretty much eating him alive for so many things and he just couldn't hold it back anymore.

"I'm sorry." You weren't sure if you heard him right or not, and asking him repeat irritated him, but he did so anyway. "I said I was sorry. Ya shouldn't have taken that hit for me. If I'd been paying more attention you'd be fine right now."

"Am I not?" Raph gave you a weird look. "Am I not fine? If you ask me, I'm pretty good today. The headaches are fading and the wound has healed really good. I'll have an awesome scar to show off at the pool, so why the apology?"

"Ah, forget it." Raph seemed to be embarrassed how, turning on his heel to leave the room. You smiled and stopped him with a small 'hey'.

"Thank you for the apology, Raph. But I would've taken that hit for any of you. You're like family to me."

Raph turned fully to face you, arms loosely cross over his chest. "Well, still. Thanks, shorty."

"I got your shell, red." You smiled, feeling a bit of sincerity in the moment. "When you think about it, I'm like a little sidekick. Popping up out of nowhere, attacking when they least expect it."

"Yeah? Well you did more falling than attacking." Raph's words were serious, but he smirked anyway before leaving the dojo for good.

At least you were on good terms, you thought.

At least you were healing.
