Alyssa's POV:
I rested my feet on the couch in Sheriff Stilinski's office as Stiles talked to his dad. "I know his family left town around the time Theo was nine or ten, his older sister died in an accident when he was eight."
Sheriff Stilinski sighed. "Please go to school."
My boyfriend frowned. "Dad, this kid's a werewolf."
"Your best friend is a werewolf. You are dating a Banshee. I still don't know what Kira's supposed to be. When the flying monkeys come soaring through this station, you will have my undivided attention. Until then, just go to school."
Stiles stayed put and Sheriff looked to me. "Alyssa, please tell me you don't believe this."
I bit my lip. "Hate to tell you, but I do. There's something off about him, and I think he very well could be a werewolf."
Sheriff Stilinski let out an annoyed sigh and Stiles looked at his dad like he was confused. "What did you do?"
"What?" He looked down at his uniform and back up at his son. "What do you mean, "What did I do"?"
"There's something different about you."
"What are you talking about?"
Stiles walked up to his dad and began sniffing him. "What is it? What's different?"
"Stiles, quit sniffing your dad and let's get to school," I said, pulling him away.
The sheriff groaned. "For the love of God, Stiles, just go to school."
Stiles pointed a finger at his dad. "I will go if you promise to do a full background check of the Raekens."
Sheriff shook his head. "No. You know what? Just because I'm the only law enforcement officer who knows anything about this, does not make it my responsibility to do something every single time you have a minor suspicion."
"Except you're not the only one," a new voice stated.
We turned to see Parrish and I smiled sweetly. "Would you be willing to do a background check on the Raekens?"
He returned my smile. "Of course."
Stiles stared in awe at me while the sheriff glared. "Parrish!"
As we made our way to school, Stiles glanced at me. "How'd you do that?"
"How'd I do what?" I inquired.
"Get Parrish to run a background check."
"Because I'm adorable and he's a friend of mine. Anyway, so the background check showed he only had a speeding ticket. But he's still hiding something. I know it."
Stiles nodded. "Speeding ticket signed by Theo's dad eight years ago."
"Meaning?"
"Who speeds?"
"Those who are trying to get away from something, and well, pretty much everyone. How many tickets do you have?" I asked.
He smirked. "None."
"How many would you have if your dad didn't bail you out?"
"Seventeen."
I stopped in front of the school and froze for a moment. "You okay, Als?"
I nodded. "Yeah, it's just weird. This is our last first day. It feels strange. Anyway, as suspicious as I am, and as much as I hate to say it, he's gotten kind of attractive. Not my type, but he's gotten quite muscular and his hair isn't too shabby either. What's that look you're giving me? Are you feeling threatened?"
