The building was silent, most creatures that claimed the mansion as their home asleep or busy outside the building. Our view finds itself into the room of one hell of an assistant, who was still deep asleep despite it being near midday.
While he did care about his job greatly, there were some other things he needed to do for his own health. And his family's health as well.
David was startled awake as two small forms landed on him, knocking the air from his lungs as he felt their small padded feet press into his stomach, making him wheeze.
The assistants assistants, and children, Doot and Dat, had arrived, excited for the day their father promised after their boss told him what his plans were.
  It was a family day!
David had the whole day with just him and his boys, very similar to what Micheal had planned for him and his own son.
The two small children were bouncing around on Davids bed, chirping to each other in their excitement. David let out a groan at being awoken in this style, but couldn't help smile at the two.

"Okay, okay, I'm up, I'm up." He chuckled, watching as the two stopped bouncing, just to vibrate in their excitement where they stood.
"I know, but you two have to give me a little. I need to get dressed still."
They gave out chirps of agreement, before hopping from the bed and dashing out the door, going to prepare whatever else they had to before they left. David watched them with a content smile, tossing back his covers and quickening his pace so they didn't have to wait that much longer.
He dressed in his regular suit and tie, bringing his sword with him just for safety measures. Even if they were going to remain within area of the Human settlements, there was the slim chance of meeting something unpleasant.
Not to mention, most Humans weren't the friendliest with the supernaturals.
But that wasn't why he was focusing on today. He was excited to spend time with his two boys, and that's all he cared about.

*~*~*~*~*

The Human city was bustling. Humans walked to and fro, not paying attention to the few supernaturals who roamed the roads as well.
Bakeries were open and the scent of freshly baked pastries and breads wafted out. Farmers stalls were filled to the brim with fresh fruits and vegetables, people calling out their prices.
Doot and Dat glanced around, eyes shining with intrigue and curiosity. They haven't been to such a big city as this. The largest was the vampire town, and even then, it wasn't as populated as this place was. It was incredible to see how these beings were able to go about their daily lives without paying any mind to those around them.
David watched the two with a soft smile, huffing a small laugh at their excitement. If they kept turning their heads that fast, surely they would get whiplash.
They've been out for almost two hours by now, having spent the first half walking to the city, talking as they made their way.
They excitedly told David about the training the Devil had given them, outside of what they learn while shadowing their father for a day.
For the most part, it was some basic sword play just so they know how to protect themselves. Aside from that, there were general history lessons, on both the supernatural and Humans. And then any kind of business lessons they could learn while out with their father.
But that wasn't appointed right now. Instead, David's mind drifted instead to how fast his two boys seem to be growing up— with or without him around.
For the Devils sake, the first time they manifested their wings, he was out on an errand for Micheal. His boss was gravely sorry for having him miss it.
His mind was still on the topic as he led the two into one of the humans dessert shops. The scent of sugar and the cool air and welcoming atmosphere got them excited.
David pulled himself from his mind as he saw the two of them pull some of the stools over, stepping up to see what was displayed behind the glass.
Both David and the worker behind the counter smiled at them. The man approached, nodding at David to let him know that he'll serve them.

"What can I get you all today?" The male asked happily, a kind smile on his face. Doot and Dat both excitedly pointed out what they wanted, followed by David as he got ready to pay.
A few minutes later, the three of them exited the shop, ice creams in hand. Doot with chocolate on a cone, Dat with strawberry in a cup, and David with vanilla in a cup as well.
It was a calm day for them, surprisingly. None of the humans caused issues for them. David didn't have to worry about the two as they led him on an exploration through the city. They were able to take care of themselves well, and knew how to be polite despite the language differences.
It struck him hard again how much they've grown. Because they do know how to take care of themselves and each other. And while they may appreciate him being there, they didn't need him.
He felt proud of them, that they were so mature and grown up. But it devastated him to know that in a few years, they would be able to go out on their own. They would live, they would love, and they wouldn't need him there. They would want him, yes, but sooner or later, they wouldn't need him.
The thought was disheartening, but looking now at the two in front of him, he smiled, and rushed to catch up to them, pointing out small monuments and art pieces.
This was there day, and he wouldn't let the future shape his present.
