And there was blood smeared across the walls

My eyelids fluttered open and warm sunlight poured through the gap in my curtains, blinding me, as my alarm shook me from sleep. Scattered images from my dream slipped from my grasp, leaving a flutter of warmth in my stomach.

"Bree! Get up! You're going to be late for school!" My Mum's voice rang through the room.

"Yuuuuup." I groaned pressing my face against the warmth of my pillow for one last time before dragging myself out of bed. The heated air hit the bare skin on my arms, making me sigh in content. I wrapped my dressing gown around my body before walking happily downstairs and into the kitchen. A cool glass of orange juice sat on the bench, waiting. Perfect life? Check. I know it sounded cocky, but it was true. My life was the basic definition of perfect. Perfect parents. Perfect house. Perfect grades.

"Morning, sweetheart." My mum said when she entered the kitchen, a bright smile on her face. "How was your sleep?"

I shrugged. "It was good but I had the weirdest dream...."

"What was it about?" She questioned though she didn't seem that interested.

I paused for a second, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion as I thought about the dream that I had had. "I....I don't know."

I couldn't seem to remember what it had been about at all, it was weird.... I could have sworn that I knew what it was about a second ago...

"I've left the clothes you wanted on the couch." My Mum said as she poked her head in the pantry, the dream completely forgotten.

I nodded, discarding any thoughts of silly dreams before responding, "Thanks." I placed my empty glass in the sink, giving it a quick rinse before walking into the living room. A light blue skater skirt was laying across the arm of the couch along with a simple white crop-top and a thin black cardigan. I slipped the clothes on, revelling in the soft material. I don't know why I felt so happy today, it was like I had gone on holiday for years and only just come back today. It was weird.

I let my hair fall down my back in soft waves, I vaguely remember curling it the night before and hoping that it would stay in, it was a miracle that it had actually worked. I grabbed my phone from the table and slipped it into my bra before picking up my heeled boots from underneath the table and tugging them on.

"Did you hit snooze a million times again?" A voice said from behind me and I rolled my eyes.

"No, Liam. I didn't." I lied, shifting under his knowing stare. "Okay, maybe once....or twice....or seven times."

"And yet you still wonder why you're late almost every day." He chuckled.

Brothers are so annoying, thinking they know everything and stuff.

"Stop talking, I need to leave before I'm even later." I huffed, making my way towards the door. "Bye Mum! Bye Dad! Tell the girls we'll have a movie night tonight!" I slung my bag over my shoulder and stalked out the door, not bothering to wait for an answer.

The sun was beating down on me as I walked, the birds were chirping and there was a cat lying in the shade of a tree looking as content as I felt.

It didn't take me long to walk to school, it was only about a ten minute walk or so and before I knew it I was walking towards my best friend and her boyfriend.

I smiled as I reached them, "Hey Karen, Niall."

"Bree!" They exclaimed, engulfing me in a hug.

"Calm down, I saw you just yesterday."

"I know," They said in unison before looking at each other, their eyes wide. "Did we just-" And then they burst out laughing.

I rolled my eyes, they were always like this. They were too cute for their own good. It was so obvious that they were in love. I wish I knew what it felt like, to love someone so much that you would do anything to protect them. Niall has claimed many times that he would kill anyone that laid a single hand on Karen. I wish I had a guy that loved me like that....
