She thought she was ready for it, but how wrong she was. Nothing in this world would have prepared her for it. Absolutely nothing. She wasn't surprised to see students who were in attendance or surprised to see April in the front standing with pride with her triumphant dirty smirk or that there were posters of her most embarrassing moments pasted everywhereIt was horrible. That day at the library when Adrian pushed her down. The camera caught her perfectly.
They had like, slut and Wanna be written all over the photos and a poster said "Just die already!
Christ, her heart broke into a billion pieces and the air left her lungs when she saw her teddy koala bear torn into wicked shreds, everywhere.
She knew that bear, it belonged to her. It was Mum's gift to her on her eighth birthday. Jan had fallen dreadfully ill that day so Jade hadn't expected any celebrations, both her parents had left her under the care of a nurse, Miss Rosa a widowed woman in her late thirties to watch over her.
Although Miss Rosa was kind and made her feel quite comfy, she still remembered feeling down the whole day. She ended up locking herself up in a room Rosa had cleaned specially for her.
She sobbed silently that day and thought of how much she awaited her birthday and how six-year-old Jan kept nodding at all her ideas without even knowing what it meant and shining her little teeth, but on that day nothing was fine. No family around, no celebration, and no cake.
She didn't even hear the door open and close she just sat sobbing until she was embraced. Her mum and dad remembered her they both hugged her and gave her a birthday present.
Mum's gift was the bear while Dad's was a princess tiara which Jan had broken later by mistake. She still hid the pieces somewhere safe and couldn't forget that day.
In as much as it pained her to see the horrible photos it was nothing compared to seeing her so-called sister standing right in the middle of it her shredded toy.
She must have brought it to school she was Jade refused to believe it.
"Jan? What a-are you d-doing here, please leave before they hurt you" she pleaded, but her sister only chuckled.
"Wow, how sweet of you sister.... or should I say, Miss Perfect?"
Jade blinked, what was going on? She needed an explanation, fast before she got a stroke.
What was Jan doing amid her attackers and why does she seem unfazed? Was this Jan's plan to get her out of here, after learning about the scheme she hoped so but then something didn't feel right.
She overlooked everything else and walked to where her sister stood. The room was quiet the girls just watched. She wasn't about to let her sister be hurt by these deviled demons. She grabbed her hand and tugged, "Let's get you out of here" she whispered.
And to her renewed shock, Jan pushed her away so fast she didn't even know when and how she ended up on the floor. Tears threatened to fall but she held herself.
Now she wished Adrian had given her some rule about crying and everything else she was facing right now at least she would have been prepared then this was life laughing in her face, telling her blatantly that it isn't always fair, and doesn't always go as planned.
