(Okay, sort of a filler chapter, important but short!)

Jensen Edward Masen Cullen was born just after midnight on New Year's Day. He bit his way through his moms stomach before anyone could do anything.
Edward just held him, frozen in shock and pain; his wife, laid broken and lifeless, was being tended to by his father. The boy in his arms cried, knowing exactly what he'd done to his mom and exactly what his father was going through.
Edward finally looks down at him, reacting. "Shh.. I've got you, Jensen, it's okay." He whispers. He can't abandon this baby, the half of his wife that is alive. Even if he is the reason shes now dead.
Edward still hasn't moved from the yard, days later, just sat watching his son change. Esme brings him food, human and blood, knowing how hard it is for her son.
None of them have met Jensen, none of them have seen him but Esme with her brief glances. They stay away having learned to do so when Edward growled at them - he isn't himself. He isn't remotely in a right frame of mind.
He watches as Jensen coos to himself playing this his hand. "That ring you like so much, that came from mommy. She picked it out for me." He says gently. He always talks to him.
"And your name, she chose that too. She adored you so much, I'm sure you remember her touch." He says gently, running his finger over his sons soft cheek.
"I told her not to but she picked all these outfits out for you - and you've outgrown them all already. My big boy."
Jensen shrieks and smiles a toothy grin at his dad. Tell me more. I wanna know about her, Dada.
Edward chuckles. "Okay okay. Let's see."
Edward thinks. "There was a time where I didn't have her. She was far away and I couldn't find her, I couldn't hold her, I couldn't feel her. I was a mess - a lot like I am now." He muses.
Jensen chews his hand as he watches his dad. Well go on.
He laughs a bit. "Oh you have her attitude." He muses, looking at the river for a moment. "She painted me everyday. She didn't even know it was me. And when I found her, she cried with joy. I didn't like seeing her cry, it made me want to cry despite the impossibility of that. I think that's the moment she probably decided she wanted a family with me - we both almost lost one and other for good and what would we have left without each other?
"Well, you. I have you. I get to watch you grow and change. I get to watch you learn new things - yes, like showing me what you want." Edward laughs. His son has a gift much like his, but the opposite. All he has to do is touch someone and he can show them his thoughts, his memories.
He likes to show his daddy the things he remembers from being inside his mommy. He shows him her singing to him - her voice like an angel. He shows how he could see her touching her tummy, touching where he kicked. He shows him the one glimpse he got of her. The one and only.
Edward sighs. "I'm so sorry, Jens..."
But as all seems lost, as all seems done and gone, it happens.
Her heart stops.
And her eyes fly open.
