Tom and I sat in the doctor's surgery waiting room, our hands grasped together as we waited for me to be called in. Tom looked at me.

"You okay?" he asked. I gulped and looked down.

"I will be once we get a confirmed answer, and then we can start figuring out what we want to do." I mumbled. He sighed and looked at me.

"No matter what happens, I'm here for you. Okay?" he asked. I bit my lip and looked at him.

"I know, Tom." I whispered. He nodded and gave me a small smile, my eyes fluttering shut as he leant in and kissed my head.

"Miss Y/L/N?" I looked up and gulped as the nurse stood over us.

"Y-yeah." I nodded, Tom and I standing up.

"Surgery room three." She smiled. I forced one in return as Tom looked at me. I gulped, taking his hand and walking to the room with him. I knocked on the door and then opened it, the doctor giving us a small smile as we walked in.

"Sit down, please." She smiled. Tom and I looked at each other, me gulping as we sat down at the desk.

"Okay, so you're here to confirm a pregnancy, correct?" she asked.

"Y-yeah." I nodded. She looked at me.

"So, we did a scan, and we did some blood work, and I'm afraid I have some sad news, Miss Y/L/N." she nodded. My eyebrows furrowed, Tom's facial expression the same as we looked at each other.

"I assume that this man is the father?" she asked.

"Um, yeah, I am." He nodded, rubbing his hand over his chin. The doctor sighed and looked between us.

"Miss Y/L/N, the fertilized egg never made it to the womb." She spoke. My eyebrows furrowed again.

"Sorry, what exactly does that mean?" I gulped.

"It means that since the egg never made it to the womb, it can no longer develop into a baby. The pregnancy isn't viable." She admitted. My eyes wavered, tears immediately starting to fill them.

"So, um, sorry, just to confirm, she isn't pregnant?" Tom asked, tightly grasping my hand.

"No, sir, I'm sorry. You're not pregnant, miss Y/L/N." she nodded. I gulped, a tear leaving my eye. I looked at Tom, my breath hitching slightly as a tear also rolled down his face.

"U-um, thank you, doctor." I mumbled, trying to stop my voice from wavering.

"Of course. I'm sorry, and I'll leave you two to process this hard news." She nodded before standing up and leaving the room. I choked, looking down as tears started to leave my eyes.

"Darling, I am so sorry." Tom choked. I shook my head.

"Can I go back to yours, please?" I whispered.

"Of course, sweetheart. Come on, let's go." He nodded, standing up. I gulped, trying to keep my eyes to the floor as Tom gently took my hand and led me out of the office.

Tom unlocked his apartment door, both of us silently entering the building. I hugged myself tightly, tears running down my cheeks as I immediately moved into the living room. I sat down, just staring ahead as I tried to process everything.

"Babe? You okay?" Tom asked quietly as he crouched down in front of me. I gulped, feeling completely numb as my eyes flickered up to look at him.

"I-I know that we didn't want me to be pregnant, I know that it's not a good time, but...I don't know, it still hurts." I choked.
