The sun is shining on my face. Sending a wave of warm air on my now awake body. I flutter my eyes open and escape the grip of Zach’s arms wrapped around my petite body. I step out of the comfortable bed and stretch, letting out a tiny scream. I walk up to the window and greet the fascinating sun rising. I slip into one of Zach’s baseball T-shirts and my Hollister sweatpants. I shove my feet into my beige Uggs and grab the room card. I close the heavy door behind me and walk to the elevator.

I got to the cafeteria filled with families, old couples, and young couples like Zach and I scrambling for food. I wait in a line taking a big whiff of the room full of delicious foods. I lean to my right where the line of food was held. Eggs, sausages, bread, an assortment or cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, pancakes and waffles, as well as some potatoes. I grab a paper plate and a paper cup with utensils and grab all of the food I wanted. By the time I got out of the room, I had a mountain of different breakfasts stacked on my tiny and flimsy plate. I sit in a 4 seated booth and take out my phone.

Ali- Wakey wakey sleeping booty!

Zach- Where did you go?

Ali- to the cafeteria downstairs

Ali- hurry quick the food is disappearing before my eyes rn!

Zach- COMING!!!!!!!!!!

I snap a picture of my mountain of food and post it on twitter. Everybody getting jealous of my delicious food. I set my phone down and dug in, shoveling the food in my mouth. I then spot Zach in socks and sandals. I gag a little and cover my mouth from food falling out. I giggle to myself because he looks ridiculous.

I finish ¾ of my food before Zach’s strolls up to the booth I was sitting in, with his mound of food.

“Oh my! They have A LOT of food here!” He says setting his food down and chuckling to himself. He kisses me good morning and we eat in silent, slowly devouring our food.

We walk to the elevator and go to our room. We both get ready for our adventure that is waiting for us. I put on my pink and white frilled tank top with acid washed shorts. I wear my white floral strapped sandals and let my hair down, adding a fake clip-on flower to the side of my head. We walked out of our hotel to the back where the beach, pool, and garden walk was. We walk to where the beach was. Colorful umbrellas filling up the hot sand, and families swimming, snorkeling, or surfing. Zach and I walk against the shoreline holding hands and splashing each other with our feet, flicking sea water at our legs.

I bend down and loosen my grip from Zach’s hand, I sway my hand back and forth through the crystal clear ocean, trying to grab the water, clenching my hand into a ball then letting it go to see if I caught it. I give up and we walk across the burning hot sand, tip toeing because it hurt. We make it to concrete and I put my sandals back on. We take a tour of the garden walk, examining all of the Hawaiian flowers. We make out way to a secluded part of the garden walk with a bench and vines covering the dome. The vines were so thick that there was no place where light could make its way to our vulnerable skin. I lead Zach to the bench and pat on the wood to tell him to sit next to me. I shift my body towards his and hold his right hand on my lap. I look him straight in the eye and ask him a question.

“Why did you bring me here?”

“I brought you here because I love you. Also because if I truly loved you, I would show you. And this I how I will show you.” Zach says turning around and grabbing something under the bench. He pulls out a ukulele and strums it, humming to the chords. Then starts to play a familiar tune that I couldn’t quite remember the name of the song, but I hummed along. He caught me by surprise because I start to see Zach’s mouth open and lyrics are recited.
