⠀THE SUN HAD SET, signaling the end to a day and the beginning of their night — a night of mischief and madness. the seven of them all stood in various spots of the warehouse, no one speaking and no one daring to quite yet. they waited for their leader to say something, to address their plans and set them forth on this mission. the ravenette knew this, and he racked his brain for the right words.
maybe there was no such thing as right words, maybe not for him at least. jungkook didn't have the best of luck recently with words. "alright guys," he might as well try, it was a start. six pairs of eyes looked up at him, serious shades of earth tones and emotions locked inside orbs. "this is it. we've done what we could with the time we were given."
jungkook made sure to look at every person here, making eye contact and addressing everyone personally. this was much more then a job, it was a night where they were all going into this head first and determined to succeed. he needed everyone to know that he had their backs, that he wasn't going to let anything happen to them. "i know it's not the best circumstances, and we've all had to adjust in order to fit the task." jungkook said, "but none of that matters. we've prepared the way we have for any job before, and that is what will carry us to our desires. now, have each other's backs and don't doubt each other. this is what we do. now let's go."
his fist was out, beckoning the rest to join him. namjoon was first, as always. he'd follow that young ravenette into fire without a second thought. "let's go." namjoon repeated with a grin, that smile so contagious and following around the room as the rest of the team piled their fists up and cheered.
everyone was suited in the same fashion, some sort of black skinny jeans that matched a black top or jacket. some went a little over board, like hoseok, who looked like the equivalent to a black-ops sniper. "let's murder this!" he cheered.
"murder?" taehyung looked up with eyes slightly wider then normal, "i thought the guns were just for show? you said we weren't killing any one." he looked at jimin and jabbing a finger at the boys chest.
jungkook glared at the excited male, a look telling him too well to cool it. "sorry, bad choice of words." hoseok grinned. the boy went back to helping load the two cars, one of which yoongi and jin were still arguing about the fishing equipment and making room for both the poles and the bolt cutters.
the young leader looked over at his boyfriend, seeing the way his bottom lip stuck out so subtlety as he tried to adjust the belt around his waist. hoseok had dressed him in one of his outfits, one full of straps and too many pockets. taehyung really looked the part — if only he didn't have such innocent eyes and precious expressions when anyone said something about the theft and guns. jungkook stepped closer and gently took the belt, feeling the way the brunettes hands were shaking, "here, let me." he said quietly.
taehyung didn't say anything, but he also didn't step away. it was progress. of course he was still giving the ravenette the silent treatment, but he wasn't completely avoiding his existence anymore. "how're you feeling?" jungkook asked, tightening the belt just a bit more so it fit snug around the boys small waist.
"nervous." he said, hands at his sides and eyes staring down at his boyfriends hands so close to him. taehyung missed him, and missed them. he couldn't wait for all of this to be over so they could just go back to being together the way they used to.
he didn't like the way he felt, the way he got attached to the handsome criminal. it was the excitement of learning all these new things about the boy, and then being boyfriends just living together and being in love. taehyung didn't like this anymore, not the stress of the jobs and the secrets that came with it. he didn't like the way he thinks he understands why seohyun left — he hated that.
"you're going to do great." jungkooks soothing voice pulled him away from his thoughts. it always did, he had that affect on him. "just wait until you see one of us, then start the car and drive." he said it with a small smile, as if this was a simple thing. as if taehyung wasn't just suppose to sit and wait as everyone he's learned to care about was walking into a gangs center to steal from them.
he thinks he's about to vomit.
"kookie." taehyung said it so quietly, and his hands reached up to grab onto the boys wrist before he could walk away.
it was endearing the way jungkooks eyes brightened at the name, the hopefulness in those dark orbs and way he took the boys hands, waiting for whatever he had to say like it was the most important thing he'd hear that day — and it was. "i love you." taehyung said, blinking up at his love.
jungkook smiled fondly, stepping closer until their noses brushed. "and i love you." he said, a whisper of adoration meant just for them to hear. it was also a promise, a silent vow that this was meant to last and they'd be okay after this. they all will be.
"we gotta head out." jungkook said, his thumbs were rubbing softly against the back of the smaller boys hands.
taehyung just nodded as they separated, seeing they were the only ones left in the warehouse — except for jimin, who had politely minded his own business by the computers after taking a quick picture of the couple.
the two boys waved goodbye, walking out together and finding the others waiting and ready. "this is it buddy." namjoon said, holding his hand out and waiting for the ravenette to meet his palm. taehyung let them talk, getting into the drivers seat and letting out a sigh of breath to try and calm his nerves.
the other car left, jin and yoongi on their way already to their position where they've been at the past three days. it was a comfort position, being seen consistently limited the threat of being considered suspicious if they were spotted on the docks. right now they were just viewed as a bickering duo who couldn't catch a thing no matter how many days spent there.
"let's do this." jungkook said, sliding open the side door to the van and getting in as well. seeing the others all strapped and ready, watching their leader get in and just confirming their soon to be actions.
they were excited, nearly an understatement after laying low for so many months since the siwol heist. they were in the element — and for the first time, they were truly about to be tested. if only they knew that this feeling of excitement would die so quickly.
