"Dad, please just let me go see him!" I yelled at him, tears streaming down my face. "I told you once, and I'm not gonna tell you again, Mia! Chris is a Chamber's kid, and I'm not having you be anywhere near a Chamber!" I wiped my face, grabbing my shoes and coat and storming outside. "Mia!? MIA!!" I ignored him calling for me as I slipped on my boots and coat, zipping it up to prevent snow getting on my tucked in white t shirt Chris gave me. I didn't remember where Chris lived, but I took a guess of where he could be. I checked the local theatre, no sign of him there. I checked the Blue Point Diner, and he wasn't there either. I then remembered one place he would be. I walk behind the town into the glowing, white field, where I was met with the familiar big oak tree and wooden treehouse built inside of it.

I climbed up the ladder, being careful as to not slip and fall, and I did our secret knock. Knock, knock, knock three times, knock twice. The small door opened, and I climbed in, shaking the snow off of me. Chris closed the door back, locking it and leaning back in his sitting spot, shuffling cards on top of his bent up knee. He kept looking down, avoiding eye contact. "Chris, are you okay?" I asked him. No answer. The silence was quietly thrown off by the muffled snow blizzard outside and the light shuffling of the cards. We were sitting opposite sides of the treehouse. I lean over, carefully lifting his chin up, discovering a black eye and cut on his cheek. "Chris.." I breathed out in horror.

He looked back down and laid the cards on the cardboard box we considered a table. I reach behind me and pull out the first aid kit I snuck in here a while back, since I usually fix his injuries from his dad in here. "No, you're not touching me." He said, backing up a little. I crawled to him, a disinfectant infused cotton ball wedges between my fingers. "Please just hold still..." He obliged and leaned his face towards me, and I lightly dabbed his eye and cut. I band-aided his cut and put soothing ointment on his black eye. I gave him a kiss on the cheek before I put the kit back and sat right next to him, leaning my head on his shoulder.

"Our parents are a bunch of dicks, aren't they?" I asked, scoffing. I felt his head nod, "Guess is you could say that." I could tell he's been crying by how raspy and snuffled he sounded when he talked. I gave him a small kiss in the cheek, lingering for a second before I settled back down with my head on his shoulder. "I don't think I can even go back home. I just got into it with my dad." I said.

"Me too. I don't want to go back, or go anywhere near him." Chris replied as he set the cards down and leaned his head on mine sleepily. I sit up and lift his head with my hands to face me. "Hey, why don't we just go?" I felt Chris relax his head in my hands. "Go? Go where?" I shrugged, "I don't care, anywhere but our parents and anywhere with you." He looked at me with puppy dog eyes. "That sounds better than staying in this shithole." I smiled sweetly at him and gave him a light kiss on his nose. "I'm thinking we follow the train tracks all the way to New York! We can start anew in the city." I giggled.

He smirked at me. "That's a good plan." I looked at him excitedly. "Well, lets get some stuff that we need packed and we'll ride the tracks." We got things from the treehouse and the corner store and packed it all up in our usual sleeping bags. We even got a map. Afterwords, we head for the train tracks and we stop to stare at the long trail ahead of us. "Shall we?" I jokingly say, locking my arm with his. "Yes, we shall." He joked back. We started our long journey down the train tracks.
